PowerPlay", the world's most widely used software for analyzing
multidimensional data, also known as Online Analytical Processing (OLAP).
The full version of PowerPlay lets business managers take a detailed look
at any type of corporate data to gain insight and run their businesses
better by turning raw facts into useful insights.

The key to the power of both products is the ability to let users look at
data "multidimensionally" -- or in multiple combinations or views -- much
as one can change how a Rubik's Cube looks by turning its faces. Cognos is
offering PowerPlay SE for Football to help educate the market about the
advantages of OLAP and multidimensional data.

Users simply point their Web browsers at the address www.cognos.com and
click to download both the PowerPlay SE for Football module and the
Football Stats data file. The raw data is supplied by STATS, Inc. (Skokie,
IL), the leading supplier of sports data, and covers a wealth of data on
the NFL teams and their individual players. Once downloaded, users simply
launch the product and open the data file to begin their exploration of
any desired offensive statistics. The PowerPlay SE for Football product,
available at no charge on the Cognos Web site, works only with special
data files produced by Cognos. The full version of PowerPlay for business
users, priced at $695, includes a wide range of other capabilities,
including the ability to create multi-dimensional "cubes" of data from any
data source.

The PowerPlay SE for Football product and the full commercial version,
PowerPlay 4.1, require Windows 3.1 or Windows 95, an IBM PC or compatible
