New Mastercam CAD/CAM release unveiled at Autofact West '96

January 9, 1996 -- TOLLAND, CT-CNC Software, Inc., will introduce Mastercam
Version 6 in Booth #3712 at Autofact West '96 at the LA Convention Center,
Los Angeles, CA, March 25-28. Known for its power and simplicity,
Mastercam is Windows-based CAD/CAM software for 2- through 5-axis milling,
turning, 2- and 4-axis wire EDM, 3-D design, drafting and surface
modeling.

Mastercam Version 6 adds many new ease-of-use features to its suite of
design and programming tools. Users have more flexibility than ever with
new machining options such as radial cutting, which allows a workpiece to
be cut outward from a selected point like spokes on a wheel. Toolpaths can
now be projected onto an unlimited number of surfaces, and gouge checking
has been enhanced. Mastercam's pocketing functions have also been
enhanced, and now support multiple pockets and nested islands with a
simple window selection.

A fully customizable icon bar lets users choose which tools they use most
often and display them at the top of the screen. Greatly enhanced graphics
speed provides smoother graphics, and shaded images can now be rotated,
panned and zoomed for closer inspection.

New multi-surface manipulation tools let users trim and fillet any number
of surfaces in one step, and Mastercam's new 3-fillet blend lets users
quickly create a "ball corner" at the edge of three variable radius
fillets. The new release also offers three-surface blend creation to speed
part modeling.

Mastercam Version 6 includes dozens of additional new features designed to
make both basic and complex programming tasks simpler. Examples are a new
function for circle milling which allows users to contour unlimited
circles in one easy step, and the ability to import TrueType fonts as
machinable geometry. New on-line help gives users instant access to
Mastercam tips and instructions.

Mastercam Version 6 includes a new SAT translator that imports ACIS solids
as surfaces for machining. Mastercam also provides built-in bi-directional
translators including IGES, VDA, DXF, CADL, STL, and ASCII at no extra
charge. An optional DWG translator is available for Version 6, allowing a
more direct transfer from Autocad to Mastercam.
