Computer Curriculum Corporation Launches First World Wide Web Site to
Provide Original, Interactive Curriculum Online

Pioneer Web Site Creates a New Community For Teachers, Students and
Parents

SUNNYVALE, CA--Computer Curriculum Corporation (CCC), a leading multimedia
publisher for education, today announced CCCnet, the first World Wide Web
site to provide original, interactive curriculum online. In addition,
CCCnet (http://www.cccnet.com) provides a new two-way communication
vehicle for educators, an online showcase of student-produced web
projects, and a new tool for parents to participate in their children's
education.

Unlike other education web sites that simply provide information for
teachers to download, and lead students to surf the web without structure,
CCCnet provides a reason for visiting other web sites, based on
educational goals and national curriculum standards. CCCnet combines the
strengths of the web - community, collaboration, vast information and a
graphical interface - with CCC's expertise in developing award-winning,
thematic curriculum in a multimedia format. Another unique element of
CCCnet is that it will be further developed by students who will publish
their original work online, expanding the offering themselves and ensuring
that CCCnet remains a current and dynamic learning tool.

"Teachers are anxious to begin incorporating the Internet into their
curriculum because it's a great communication tool and information
resource," said Ronald Fortune, CCC president and CEO. "However, without
any structure or direction, incorporating the Internet into education can
be a daunting and frustrating experience. CCCnet will provide teachers
with a way to effectively utilize this powerful resource, without losing
sight of their education objectives."

CCCnet gives kids an exciting new way to learn reading, writing, social
science, math and science skills. The web-based service provides
interdisciplinary, thematic curriculum based on student-directed projects.
Teachers will access lesson plans that include learning objectives and
suggestions for using web technology in the classroom. Parents will also
register to access the same instructions.

"Thousands of teachers have found the Internet to be an indispensable
tool," said Rita Oates, educational expert and managing editor of The
Heller Report's newsletter, Internet Strategies for Education Markets.
"CCCnet will make the Internet even more valuable to educators because it
delivers an immediate solution for overcoming the chaos of the web, as
well as an engaging learning environment that will be fun for students."

CCCnet has the potential to reach millions of students worldwide, as well
as an educational community keenly interested in the Internet. There are
over 55 newsgroups and electronic mail lists dedicated to K-12 education
topics; over 2,000 elementary and secondary schools worldwide (1,300 U.S.)
have their own web pages ; and in 1995, nearly three-fourths of U.S.
states provided schools with a connection to the Internet through a
statewide network. With President Clinton's goal of connecting all
students to the Internet by the year 2000, all U.S. students will be able
to access CCCnet either from school or home.

CCCnet's premiere online curriculum project will be Energy Flows in
Amazonia. Students take an "Electronic Safari" to the Smithsonian's
National Zoo home page and other sites, where they learn about food chains
and various plant and animal species. In "Energy Pyramid" students publish
their own web pages on Amazonian species to place in a community-developed
food chain. The "Energy Challenge" is a student-generated assessment tool
that allows students to demonstrate their knowledge.

An Online Educational Community

CCCnet provides educators with online consultation and support for teaching
on the web through a full-time "educational webmeister" in the Teacher
Link area. CCCnet also builds a community of educators who can collaborate
and share ideas. Teachers can chat in real-time as well as post
announcements on CCCnet's bulletin board.

"One of our goals in launching CCCnet is to build a community of educators
and a cooperative learning model. We want CCCnet to become not only a
valuable curriculum tool, but also a network for teachers to support each
other," said Lori McBride, CCC's vice president of New Media Markets. "We
will jointly publish CCCnet with teachers, students and parents, and it
will grow with the value of community input."

Plans and Direction for CCCnet

CCCnet will have a series of regularly published projects. Access to CCCnet
initially will be free for all teachers, parents, and students. Later in
1996, access to projects and Teacher Link areas will be
subscription-based. Pricing will be announced later this year.

While Teacher Link lesson plans can be used by parents, School-to-Home
Connection is an area that will provide guidance specifically for parents
on how to participate in their children's online education. The
School-to-Home Connection area of CCCnet is currently in development and
will be launched later this year.
