BIEN LOGIC ANNOUNCES PLANETEARTH SCIENCE DIRECTORY AND CITY GUIDE TO SAN
DIEGO

PlanetEarth.Net, Web's Most Complete Directory For Science, Technology and
Environmental Resources, Includes First PlanetEarth City Guide

(LA JOLLA, CA)--Bien Logic, Inc., leading Web site developers and Internet
publishers, have announced an unprecedented partnership in producing
PlanetEarth, the World Wide Web's most complete directory of science,
technology and environmental resources. Through a first-of-its-kind
Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the Navy's
technology and research division, commonly known as NRaD, Bien Logic is in
the process of redesigning the planetearth.net site for use by the general
Internet public in the second quarter of 1996.

"We are very pleased to be a part of such a unique endeavor and look
forward to continuing this successful cooperative venture, as we believe
it represents the future of development projects on the Internet," states
Bien Logic's vice-president of publishing, Charles Gillespie. "Our goal is
not to create another directory of the entire Net, but rather to focus on
the Sciences, Technology and the Environment and to provide the best links
to information in those areas."

One of the oldest and best regarded sites on the Internet, PlanetEarth was
originally created by Richard Bocker, a civilian physicist working for the
Navy. The research directory was maintained by a group of students,
professors and a committee of experts. Led by

Dr. Bocker, the site was maintained for several years on a limited user
basis, primarily as a research tool for Navy personnel. During its time as
a limited user application, it was one of the top seven most visited
sites, averaging up to 100,000 hits daily. Due to the rapid expansion of
the site and increasing demands for unlimited user access and a new and
more graphical user interface, The Navy agreed to turn over publishing to
Bien Logic's Internet publishing division to overhaul the site and give it
a more polished look and feel.

After Bien Logic was chosen, programmers and Web masters at their La Jolla
offices went to work on a user-centered design and interface that clearly
communicates the types of information available and provides hypertext
links to other informational sites available on the Web. PlanetEarth's
redesign and impending release, scheduled for a mid-1996 launch to the
general Internet public, makes it a powerful search tool for students,
educators, researchers and technology experts.

Through the CRADA with the Navy's NRaD, PlanetEarth becomes a unique
cooperative venture on the Web. PlanetEarth, and all the services it will
offer are free of charge to users, keeping with the traditional Internet
publication model. planetearth.net is funded completely through financial
sponsorship from leading environmental, scientific and education-related
companies.

In addition to the science, technology and environmental directory, Bien
Logic is also developing a related series of complete Internet city
directories for the PlanetEarth site. The first of these Web-based city
guides is planetearth.net/SanDiego, an Internet resource directory for the
city and the surrounding region. With over 1,000 links to World Wide Web
resources about San Diego, the planetearth.net/SanDiego site is one of the
largest community resources currently making a home on the Internet.

The most comprehensive directory available for any U.S. city,
planetearth.net/SanDiego provides links to commercial sites and
comprehensive gateways to a collection of Web pages designed and
maintained by the City of San Diego and its various departments. Sections
of the Web page include the following six categories: Visit, Live, Work,
Learn, Play and Shop. Under each of these categories are a wide number of
sub-categories covering the majority of things to do and see in the San
Diego/Baja region.

"We believe this site represents an outlet for local programming just like
a local television station," states Gillespie. One of the main goals for
planetearth.net/SanDiego is the ability to give students and citizens of
San Diego the opportunity to design, program, create and maintain
significant sections of the resource site. "We are preparing a publishing
model in which students and other multimedia designers/programmers are
assigned a topic within PlanetEarth, for which they become the
Editors/Webmasters," says Gillespie. "After a period of evaluation and
quality control, contributors' work will be published on the site and for
commercial sections, revenues will be shared with the author(s)."
