AMP Launches Global Electronic Service via the Internet

CUSTOMER SERVICE, SOPHISTICATED TECHNOLOGY ARE KEYS TO SUCCESS

Harrisburg, PA, (December 28, 1995) -- A customer-driven, multi-lingual
electronic catalog about to be launched on the Internet by AMP foreshadows
the next generation of customer service and global electronic commerce.
AMP developed the service, known by its address connect.amp.com, for
system designers, purchasing managers, and other decision-makers. From
virtually anywhere in the world at anytime, these customers can find
up-to-date information from the global leader in electrical and electronic
interconnections.

This new global tool, available 24 hours a day, will initially contain
extensive information on 30,000 AMP products. Customers can access
connect.amp.com beginning January 11. Information will continuously expand
to cover all engineering and specifying needs.

"Our new global electronic service is yet another way that AMP is showing
its innovative and aggressive approach to customer service," said AMP
Chief Executive Officer William Hudson. "As a global company competing in
the information age, AMP must continue to find ever more creative means
for satisfying customers' needs -- and do so faster and faster."

Using proprietary navigator technology called Step Search, jointly
developed with SAQQARA Systems of San Jose, California, customers control
the direction of the product search. Guided by the system's
high-resolution graphics and user-friendly directions, customers can
quickly locate specific products. Tests indicate that the navigator
technology can save users as much as 45 minutes compared to searching
paper catalogs.

Jim Kessler, Director, Global Catalog/Commerce said, "We've developed an
efficient global system that makes identifying the right product
considerably easier for our customers. connect.amp.com is a major
breakthrough in electronic commerce and is one of the most sophisticated
applications in use today."

Today, the electronic catalog is available is several languages including
English, French, German, Italian and Spanish and will soon be available in
Japanese, Mandarin Chinese and Korean.

Users can access http://connect.amp.com through their preferred Internet
connection or can receive a free disk from AMP, which includes Advantis
and Netscape navigator software,
