ALR FIRST TO OFFER MULTIPROCESSOR SERVERS FEATURING 166-MHZ PENTIUM
TECHNOLOGY

PRICES START AT $3,795

Irvine, CA, January 16, 1996 - Advanced Logic Research Inc. (NASDAQ:AALR),
an industry leader in the design, manufacture, marketing and support of
advanced computer systems, reaffirms its leadership position in SMP
technology by announcing the first multiprocessor servers to support
Intel's 166-MHz Pentium processors. 166-MHz models have been added to the
Revolution MP, Revolution Q-SMP, and Rack-Mountable Revolution Q-SMP
servers. In addition, users will be able to upgrade their existing QSMPs
and MPs to 166-MHz Pentium technology as a result of ALR's modular
processor technology.

"We see continued demand for proven Intel Pentium technology in a server
platform. The new Intel 166MHz Pentium processors are ideal for our core
business customers," explains Genny Ortegon, ALR's vice president of
marketing. "With the scaleable nature of our server systems, the faster
processor speeds offer a reliable performance gain while insuring a
suitable upgrade path," says Ortegon.

ALR REVOLUTION MP

Positioned as ALR's entry-level server, the DUAL processor-ready Revolution
MP adds the new 166-MHz processor to its wide range of Pentium processor
options. This system boasts 512-KB cache, 8-MB RAM (expandable up to
512-MB), six EISA slots, four PCI slots (one of which is shared), nine
drive bays, and a 64-bit PCI graphics adapter. Pricing for the new system
starts at $3,795.

ALR REVOLUTION Q-SMP

The award winning Revolution Q-SMP is ALR's premier multiprocessing server.
It was the first to support QUAD 90-, 100-, 133-MHz, and now it is the
first quad processing system to ship with 166-MHz Pentium processing. The
system includes 16-MB EDC (Error Detection & Correction) RAM standard
(expandable to 1-GB), up to 2-MB of dedicated two way set associative
cache per processor, six EISA slots, four PCI slots (one of which is
shared), 13 total drive bays (18 total with ALR's Quick Hot Swap option),
and a 64-bit PCI graphics adapter. Fault tolerant options available
include redundant power supplies and RAID solutions. Pricing for the new
system starts at $7,995.

ALR RACK-MOUNTABLE REVOLUTION Q-SMP

ALR also introduced 166-MHz Pentium processor versions of the Rack-
Mountable Revolution Q-SMP. ALR first brought to market its rackmount
server solutions in June '95. As one of the first PC manufacturers to
offer a true rack solution, the Rack-Mountable Q-SMP provides MIS
directors and managers the convenience of CENTRALIZATION - multiple
servers in one location as opposed to various rooms, floors or buildings,
ORGANIZATION - all servers in a clean, organized rack format as opposed to
multiple hubs, routers, cables, etc., and EASE OF SERVICEABILITY - with
front/back door access and drawer format, all components are easily
accessible for repair or replacement.

There are two rack sizes available from ALR; 44U and 22U solutions. The 44U
rack will support up to four Revolution Q-SMP server system drawers each
supporting up to four 100-, 133- and now 166-MHz Pentium processors. Each
of its main components, the CPU system drawer, Quick Hot Swap Storage
drawer, and AutoDAT back-up drawer come standard with redundant power
supplies (the storage and DAT drawer RPSs are also hot-swappable).

Each server is capable of handling up to 1-GB of EDC (Error Detection &
Correction) RAM, up to 2-MB of dedicated cache per processor, 6 - EISA
slots, 4 - PCI (one of which is shared EISA/PCI). Additional options
include Uninterruptible Power Supplies and 4/8 Port Switch Boxes allowing
multiple servers to be controlled from one central keyboard/mouse/monitor.
Pricing for the new rack-mountable system starts at $16,295.

The ALR REVOLUTION MP, ALR REVOLUTION Q-SMP, and the ALR RACK-MOUNTABLE
REVOLUTION Q-SMP are available immediately. Pricing is listed in U.S.
dollars, reseller pricing will vary:
