ASPIRE CONTINUES TO WIN ACCOLADES FOR BEST MULTIMEDIA COMPUTER

LAS VEGAS, NV, JAN. 5, 1996 -- Acer America Corporation, the nation's
eighth largest computer manufacturer, today announced its line of Aspire
PCs is the winner of the Innovations `96 award for best multimedia
computer at the 1996 Winter Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Announced in early September, Aspire is the first computer designed and
developed specifically for the American home PC market. Aspire's sleek and
aesthetically appealing design and ease of use features resemble the look
and feel of other consumer electronic devices. In addition, the Aspire's
innovative charcoal and emerald colors complement any home decor. Aspire
also includes all of the latest in computing technology such as IntelO
Pentium processors, Microsoft Windows 95, large capacity hard drives,
quad-speed CD-ROM drives, integrated microphone and speakers, voice
activation of its 50 pre- loaded software titles, and an easy-to-use user
interface called the Acer Computer Explorer (ACE). The Aspire offers

Endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of America, Innovations is the
most recognized awards program in the consumer electronics industry and is
sponsored and produced by the Consumer Electronics Manufacturers
Association (CEMA), a sector of the Electronic Industries Association
(EIA). Each year, members of the trade press, engineers, and industrial
designers evaluate the best products in electronic hardware and software
consumer design and engineering. The Design and Engineering Honors Program
recognizes a broad range of hardware categories including multimedia
computers, lifestyle electronics, and audio/video products and the
Innovations Software Showcase honors the most innovative new software
products.

In addition to being recognized by Innovations 96, Aspire has also received
