Compact Flat Panel Computer Features 14" Color TFT LCD

March 10, 1994 -- Greer, SC . . . Computer Dynamics announces the
introduction of the "DisplayPac-VISTA", the first industrial flat panel
computer to feature the largest ultra-colorful flat panel display
available today. A powerful, yet compact workstation complete with a 14"
color TFT LCD, a 486DX engine, a resistive touchscreen, choice of disk
drives and power supply, the "DisplayPac-VISTA" is ideally suited to
space-conscious machine control and process environments where operator
information must be highly visible. The entire unit draws about half the
power of a comparably sized CRT alone, and is inherently more reliable. It
is available in a 12.5" x 15.5" x 4.5" rugged metal open frame panel
mount, or a 19" rackmount version. Both include provisions for mounting a
1.44M floppy drive, a 2.5" hard disk drive up to 500M, or a two-slot
PCMCIA credit card drive.

The 640x480 VGA LCD displays 262,000 colors, bringing life to control
screens and easily handling today's Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs). In
contrast to other, less colorful LCDs, the DisplayPac-VISTA displays so
many colors that it eliminates the need for such color creation techniques
as dithering and frame rate modulation, which sometimes result in flicker
or unstable images. Its expansive 14" diagonal size, wide viewing angle
and cool operation permit excellent visibility under a variety of viewing
conditions.

The DisplayPac-VISTA boasts CPU speeds to 66 MHz, a local bus video
controller with builtin Windows accelerators, up to 32M DRAM, 1.5M
semiconductor disk, hard and floppy disk interfaces, a watch-dog timer,
and all standard PC features. You can boot and run DOS from the on-board
RAM/ROM disk, allowing you to have a totally diskless system. Companion
software tools for the DisplayPac-VISTA let you boot and run your DOS
target code without DOS or its royalties. A 65-watt switching power supply
powers the entire system, which is rated for 0-40 degrees C.

For simple, intuitive operator interface, the DisplayPac-VISTA is paired
with a resistive touchscreen which features 256x256 resolution.
Touchscreen implementation is easy with our advanced touchscreen software
tools. Drivers are available which allow the touchscreen to function as a
mouse in either DOS or Windows applications.

Expansion options for the DisplayPac-VISTA include up to six PC bus
expansion slots, industry-standard SBX expansion on-board the single board
computer, and a two-slot PCMCIA drive. In addition to solid-state memory,
PCMCIA credit card drives offer fax/modem, network connectivity, and a
growing list of other possibilities.

The DisplayPac-VISTA is the latest, and largest, addition to Computer
Dynamics' DisplayPac line of flat panel computers. DisplayPacs combine
color and monochrome LCDs and electroluminescent displays with processors
from the 8088 through the 486DX, and capacitive, resistive and infrared
touchscreens.

The DisplayPac-VISTA is $7435 (OEM quantity) for the 33 MHz 80486DX-based
system with 4M DRAM, the 14" color LCD and resistive touchscreen. Delivery
is stock to 30 days. For more information on the DisplayPac-VISTA or other
flat panel display products, contact the Sales Department, Computer
Dynamics, 107 S. Main Street, Greer, SC 29650. Phone 803877-8700 or FAX
