Major Healthcare Initiative Launched to Drive Costs from Hospital
Procurement Process

Four Leading Suppliers Endorse Open Windows-Based Platform from TSI
International

Wilton, CT, April 11, 1994....A major initiative to streamline healthcare
procurement within hospitals was announced today by TSI International, a
supplier of electronic data interchange (EDI) software. The focus of the
initiative is a Windows-based software platform for conducting business
electronically which has been endorsed by four leading healthcare
suppliers. The system, named OnCall*EDI, is designed to eliminate hospital
paperwork, reduce inventories, and cut logistics costs.

Healthcare suppliers assisting in defining the requirements for OnCall*EDI,
and in marketing the system to hospitals, include Baxter Healthcare
Corporation, Bergen Brunswig, Boise Cascade Office Products, and Eastman
Kodak Company. The addition of other suppliers as participants in the
OnCall*EDI program is expected and is being solicited by TSI.

The initial release of OnCall*EDI, targeted for July 1 of this year, will
support key elements of the procurement process including the exchange of
ANSI X 12 EDI transactions for purchase orders, order acknowledgments,
invoices, and price catalog data. Future releases will support additional
transactions for procurement as well as healthcare claims processing.

Unlike proprietary EDI initiatives of the past, the TSI solution is the
first turnkey EDI system for hospitals designed from the outset to be open
to all healthcare suppliers. Components of OnCall*EDI include Microsoft
Windows as the user interface, EDI translation facilities, a built-in
database for capturing and maintaining procurement transactions,
interfaces for most of the major materials management information systems
(MMIS), and communications support for direct connections between
hospitals and suppliers as well as access to value-added networks (VANs).

The concept of an open EDI platform, where all suppliers are able to
compete for hospital business on an equal footing, is widely supported by
major industry organizations and hospital buying groups. Garren Hagemeier,
Executive Director of the Healthcare EDI Corporation (HEDIC), Little Rock,
Arkansas, a non-profit association of healthcare companies and
institutions, applauded the OnCall*EDI announcement.

"HEDIC salutes the foresight of these suppliers in bringing EDI to the
provider community in an open platform," said Hagemeier. "This EDI
enablement effort by four major healthcare companies and TSI International
is a terrific example of the cooperative spirit needed to accomplish the
mission and goals of HEDIC. We support the leadership taken by these
companies."

In addition to cost-cutting benefits for hospitals, OnCall*EDI is expected
to provide major benefits to healthcare suppliers and service providers.
"Driving costs from the procurement process is a two-way street," stated
Connie Galley, President of TSI International. "The EDI capabilities of
OnCall*EDI should result in improved operational efficiency and improved
customer service at the supplier end as well. We have also designed the
system so any company doing business with hospitals, regardless of size,
can participate," noted Galley.

Pricing information for OnCall*EDI was not announced.
