HEWLETT-PACKARD COMPANY WORKS WITH AVAIL TO PROMOTE NETSPACE HSM

Boulder, Colorado--April 19, 1994 - Avail Systems Corporation received
further support for its NetSpace software today when Hewlett-Packard
Company announced plans to introduce the hierarchical storage management
(HSM) technology to its storage hardware customers. Through HP's Optical
Referenced Solutions program and Avail's NetSpace Ready program, HP will
work with Avail to provide NetSpace compatible optical jukebox software to
HP's Value Added Reseller channel.

This agreement denotes HP's support for Avail's "NetSpace Ready" program.
In the NetSpace Ready program, hardware manufacturers bundle NetSpace
storage capacity drivers with their jukeboxes to ensure plug-and-play
compatibility with NetSpace. HP's optical jukeboxes will carry the
"NetSpace Ready" logo in their specifications and catalogs to identify
them as tested with NetSpace, ensuring the user complete compatibility and
simple installation. HP's Optical Referenced Solutions Program recommends
Avail NetSpace HSM software as a high quality storage solution that
reliably supports its optical jukeboxes. Avail and HP begin co-marketing
NetSpace on April 19, 1994, when HP launches its Optical Reference
Solutions Program at the AIIM show in New York City. The HP optical
jukeboxes and Avail NetSpace storage capacity driver will be available
through national distributors and VARs worldwide beginning in May 1 994.

"Avail is proud to have HP as a member of our NetSpace Ready program. As
the leading supplier of optical jukeboxes and tape drives around the
world, HP's support of NetSpace software and the NetSpace Ready program is
a very important endorsement of hierarchical storage management tools for
networks. We look forward to a strong and valuable relationship promoting
HSM with HP," said Robert Wight, president and CEO of Avail Systems.
