                        and Management System
                             Version 3.0
                       Quick Start Information
     ____________________________________________________________

You are probably anxious to get started, but there are a few
     points worth mentioning.

     1. If all else fails, read the PCForm Reference Manual.

         a. The manual is easily printed by using the following
             DOS command line entry.

               COPY PCFORM.DOC PRN <Enter>

         b. Be sure your printer is turned on and properly
aligned for top of page. Page form feeds are
provided and the manual is 54 pages long.

Note: Some printers do not automatically apply the line
drawing characters used on the front cover of the
manual. Most printers can be externally set to
print these extended ASCII characters. Why
printer manufacturers do not default for the use
of these line characters is beyond reason.

         c. PCForm also provides on-line viewing of its
Reference Manual. To view the manual from within
PCForm press the key combination <Alt> + <V> or
select the Pull-Down Menu item Help/View Manual.
The manual (PCFORM.DOC) must be in the same direct-
ory location as PCFORM.EXE for the viewer to
             operate.

     2. PCForm is self installing.

         a. The following DOS command line entry will begin the
             installation process.

               INSTALL <Enter>
                      or
               PCFORM INSTALL <Enter>

         b. You are asked to type in the install destination.

               example: C:\PCFORM

         c. If the location given does not exist, PCForm will
             create it for you.

         d. If enough space is available on the destination
drive, the install service also will allow you the
opportunity to install the sample forms. If you
choose to install these forms, they are placed in a
subdirectory named SAMPLES within the directory
to which you have installed PCForm.

               example: C:\PCFORM\SAMPLES

         e. The following files are used in the install process
and must be present for this service to operate
             properly.

                 PCFORM.EXE - PCFORM.CFG - PCFORM.DOC
                 PCFORM.PIF - PCFORM.ICO - REGISTER.FRM
                 FORMS.EXE (sample forms - optional)

     3. SET your environment variable.

         a. If PCForm is not in the current directory when
started, it will look for the following environment
variable to locate internal data. If this variable
is not present, you are asked to enter the location
of PCForm. To avoid this constant entry a line can
be added to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

               SET PCFORM=location

         b. Replace "location" with the drive and/or directory
             where PCForm resides.

               example: SET PCFORM=C:\PCFORM <Enter>

     4. Establish your startup search path.

         a. To avoid root directory clutter, PCForm will org-
anize your forms from an established drive and
directory. Use the menu option Setup/Path, within
PCForm, to create your own startup search path. The
initial default setting is the current drive and the
             directory \PCFORM.

               example: C:\PCFORM

         b. Use the menu option 'Setup/Save' to make any new
settings available for the next use of PCForm.

     5. Provided with PCForm is a set of samples forms. These
forms are compressed in a self-extracting file named
FORMS.EXE. Contained also within this file is a sample
         Auto-Tab file named JOBCOST.(T).

         a. If you did not elect to install the sample forms
with the PCForm install service, you can install
then manually from the DOS command line. To
uncompress the sample files type the following line
at your DOS prompt and read the instructions.

               FORMS <Enter>

         b. To use the sample Auto-Tab file copy it to the same
drive and directory location where you have placed
PCFORM.EXE. If you use the PCForm install service
and install the sample forms, this copying process
is performed for you. Next, start PCForm and load
the sample form JOBCOST.FRM. Now select the menu
option 'Tab/Load Set' to select and activate the
             Auto-Tab file (JOBCOST).

Note: Please read the section of the Reference
Manual 'Pull-Down Menu - Tab' for more in-
                    formation on the Auto-Tab features.

     6. Good luck and enjoy - from the folks at CareWare.
