EMS Consulting is one of three business areas for EMS. The others are EMS Professional Shareware and EMS Publishing. EMS Consulting develops and delivers office technology training (primarily to technical support specialists), offers general OT advice, and sells hardware and software at cost plus a small processing fee. EMS generally only sells to clients when EMS can offer better price, delivery and service than local or mail order dealers, otherwise EMS refers its clients to the dealers which best fit their needs.
Most of EMS's consulting business at present is to a single large international client (the World Bank), but EMS has served a wide variety of large and small firms in the USA and Europe in the past. EMS offers a popular course in Washington D.C. for small businesses and organizations who wish to create a modest web presence. Students bring a diskette with basic information they want published and images or pictures to be scanned. The $195 three hour class teaches them how to build effective web pages using Internet Assistant and includes 6 months of web space on www.xmission.com/~wwwads.
EMS's consulting services is lead by Eric Engelmann. Mr. Engelmann has 17 years of experience in computing, networks and training. He is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University with post-graduate studies in computer and electronics engineering at George Mason University. His professional career includes employment as programmer, systems engineer and technical trainer for Computer Sciences Corporation (1977-1982), BDM Corporation (1984-1988), and the World Bank (1988-1995), as well as service to a number of US and international clients in a variety of industries. In addition to directing EMS Professional Shareware's production of 20 award winning technical shareware CD-ROMs and databases, he currently teaches a wide variety of general and specialized Internet classes for Naclerio and Associates, EMS Consulting, and the World Bank. He has also assisted many retail, non-profit, and professional organizations establish web presences.
Internet classes developed and delivered to date include intro., applications, Lynx browser, advanced Netscape, WinVN, publishing, Internet Assistant, advanced mail applications, finding resources, and multimedia on the Internet.
Starting in July 1995, he has been the senior technical consultant responsible for several initiatives in the Africa region of the World Bank. These include Web server and database publishing strategies, Internet and office technology support training for PC professionals, and the development of Internet support for the World Bank's regional offices throughout Africa.
