Installing Microsoft Windows 3.1 drivers

The Viper Windows disk contains driver support for the following
resolutions:

640x480 - 8, 16, and 24-bit support (for 2M cards)
800x600 - 8, 16, and 24-bit support (for 2M cards)
1024x768 - 8 and 16-bit support (for 2M cards)
1152x900 - 8-bit support
1280x1024 - 8-bit support (for 2M cards)

To install the Windows 3.1 drivers follow these steps:

1. Insert the Viper VLB Drivers Disk into your floppy drive.
2. Access the floppy drive and type 'GO' to begin the
	installation process.
3. Select the Windows 3.1 option and press <ENTER>. A default
install directory of C:\VIPER will appear. Enter the desired
directory in which to copy the Windows 3.1 files and press
<ENTER>. (It is strongly advised that you do not copy the Windows
files for the Viper VLB video card directly to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM
directory as this may cause serious problems to Windows)
4. From your WINDOWS directory run SETUP and select the VGA display
	driver.
5. Start Windows 3.1 and select the FILE | RUN option. At the prompt
	enter: <Path from Step 3>:\INSTALL
			 (i.e. C:\VIPER\INSTALL)
6. Choose the desired resolution and color depth and select OK.

NOTE: The Windows 3.1 drivers look for a file called VIPER.INI when
starting Windows. The driver first looks for the enviroment
	variable:

		VIPERPATH=<drive>:\<directory>

If this enviroment variable cannot be located, the driver then
checks the C:\VIPER directory for the VIPER.INI file. If the
VIPER.INI file still cannot be found, the following message will
	appear:

		Cannot locate VIPER.INI

		Hit any key to continue...

At this time find the location of your VIPER.INI file and add the
enviroment variable to your Autoexec.bat file, i.e.

		SET VIPERPATH=C:\VIPER

In the event you cannot locate a VIPER.INI file, execute the
VPRMODE utility. After you select the appropriate monitor and
save the selection, a new VIPER.INI file will be created.
