This is the invoice and report for all 3 libraries from David Buckert. DOSUTIL SSUTIL WINUTIL ******************************SSUTIL********************* SSUTIL --- NO CHANGES There were no new versions of QuatroPro, Excel, or Lotus and I haven't seen any new files. There is a new Windows Knowledge base Help file out. I downloaded it from Microsoft twice and both times it was corrupt. The byte size was the same so I think they have a bad one on their server. ************************SUMMARY OF ALL THREE LIBRARIES**************** DOSUTIL $66 SSUTIL $0 WINUTIL $84 TOTAL $150 This looks like a very small month, but there just wasn't much new stuff. Particularly in Windows it looks like most of the Win 3.x authors are laying low waiting on Windows 95. I have seen some new NT and Win 95 stuff, but there is now an NT library. This entire Windows library needs a re-think and a re-work. The current library covers Win 3.0 through Win 3.11 for workgroups, plus some 95 and NT thrown in. In the DOS library in makes since to support old utilities for older operating systems because they might be on old hardware. In Windows, any machine that will run Win 3.0 will run up through WFWG. The difference of a $49 upgrade does not justify carrying old patches and stuff. Now comes Windows 95. The Win 3.x library *should* become outdated pretty fast. Like the DOS library there will be a lot of hardware that can't move to the newest version, so keeping the WIN 3.x library does make sense, but it should slow down a LOT! I don't have the time or motivation to undertake what promises to be a major overhaul job. I do not want to do the Windows library next month. Please find someone else to take this (preferably a retired person that can devote their life to it full time...it can eat all that and more). For next month I will need only the DOSUTIL library and the SSUTIL library plus a set of CDs. Thanks, David Buckert 3305 Rockbrook Plano, Texas 75074 (214) 422-7242 Home (214) 804-0040 Beeper
