ABOUT BATCH JOB SERVER

Batch Job Server is a batch job management environment for
Windows NT. It manages the queuing and execution of Windows
NT batch files (batch jobs) submitted by users, programs or
other host systems (Mainframes, Unix servers, etc.).

Batch Job server is a 32-Bit windows NT service. It can be
installed on either a Windows NT server or a Windows NT
workstation.

Two 32-Bit client applications, BJS Client and BJS
Administrator, are included with Batch Job Server. BJS
Client is used by Batch Job Server users to access Batch
Job Server. It allows users to submit batch jobs and to
monitor and control their batch jobs.

BJS Administrator is used by system administrators, server
operators and account operators. In addition to the
functions provided by BJS Client, it also provides functions
to manage the Batch Job Server environment.

BJS Client and BJS Administrator can be installed on a
Windows NT workstation (or server) or a Windows for
Workgroups workstation.

For additional information, install BJS Administrator
(see next section) and, after starting it, refer to the
Help topic entitled "Batch Job Server Overview".

For answers to frequently asked questions, refer to the
"Frequently Asked Questions" Help topic in BJS Administrator.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

This file (INSTALL.TXT) is one of three files that are
restored when BJSxxx.ZIP (where xxx is the current version
number) is unzipped. The two other files, BJSAxxx.EXE and
BJSUxxx.EXE, are self-extracting ZIP files that contain
the installation files for Batch Job Server.

BJSAxxx.EXE contains the installation files for BJS
Administrator and the server components of Batch Job Server.

BJSUxxx.EXE contains the installation files for BJS Client.
Note that it is not necessary to install BJS Client if you
are installing Batch Job Server for the first time and only
wish to see how it works. In this case, you only need to
install BJS Administrator and the server components of
Batch Job Server.

To install Batch Job Server, place BJSAxxx.EXE and
BJSUxxx.EXE in separate, empty directories and execute
them at a DOS prompt. This will restore the associated
installation files. Among the installation files, you will
find a README.TXT file that contains further installation
instructions.

Please refer to "Installing Batch Job Server (for the first
time)" in the README.TXT file restored by BJSAxxx.EXE for
instructions to install BJS Administrator and the server
components of Batch Job Server.

If you encounter technical problems, please contact us at
the telephone number or e-mail address given at the
beginning of this file.
