                             VB SNR
                          Introduction

VB SNR helps you make global changes to files which make up a
Microsoft Visual Basic for Windows project. This can save you
ALOT of time when you need to change variable, control, or
control options, or need to change any hard coded drive/path
specifications. This can be a life saver if you have moved a
project and the data controls no longer work in the development
environment. VB SNR can also perform in search only mode,
showing you exactly where your search text is located, be it in a
form, module, or MAK file. Of course, all these files must be
stored in ASCII form.

VB SNR can perform the same search/replace over multiple projects
as it will optionally automatically search sub-directories for
project files. If you have multiple projects which share common
BAS or FRM files they too will be processed. While VB SNR is
performing its "magic", 2 log files are optionally maintained.
On for each project and one which includes all changes made to
all projects (for quick review of your search/replace results).

Searches can be either case sensitive or insensitive and
optionally can include the MAK file itself.

                      Initial Installation

This program is provided in one of two forms. It is either part
of the an Applications diskette or can be downloaded individually
from CompuServe or other BBS systems.

Diskette
If the program is provided on diskette and you have used the
diskette's install program, the software has already been
installed and program manager icons created. You can begin using
it immediately. Please see the section "Running for the first
time."

Download
If you downloaded this file you should follow the instructions
below. The program is provided as a self-extracting executable
file. Just follow the instructions below to install the program
on your hard drive. You MUST already have a copy of the Visual
Basic 3.0 runtime DLL VBRUN300.DLL. It must be installed in your
Windows \SYSTEM directory. If you do not have this file you can
download it from the Microsoft Visual Basic forum on CompuServe.
This file is not included with VB SNR.

1.Choose a drive and directory on which you want to install VB
SNR. If the directory does not exist you must create it
     now.
2.Copy the VB SNR self extracting executable (VBSR.EXE) into
     the directory.
3.Make a backup of this file for safe keeping. You will
     delete this file later.
4.Change to the VB SNR directory.
5.Type the command VBSR. This uncompresses the files into the
     current directory.
6.Delete the file VBSR.EXE. It is no longer used. Make sure
you make a backup per step 3 above.
7.Create a Program Manager icon for VB SNR and link it to the

8.Please see the section "Running for the first time."
