As requested here is a more detailed description of Ken Goldings Service Company

It was written for a service company and is designed to allow the users to open and close service calls as they come in.  Information on time and parts is also tracked.
A lot of the forms have a menu block of buttons on them.  These buttons will open forms to allow the user to jump around quite easily.  The BACK button is used extensivly in this MDB.  It allows you to go back to whare you came from when you entered that form.
Here is a brief descripton of each form:


Main Menu
Dispatch/Open / Close-  This is for the dispatch operator of the company.  The available options under this button are for the basic maintenance of data entry.

Contracts  -  This is where the contracts department would go to find specific information about a particular site.  It has the private information like billing address and prices.
Tech Support -  This is for the technical support people and has form that will facilitate making their jobs easier.  Site history is tracked along with site options.  A separate Call log is there  for tracking support calls

DataMaintentance -  this is where you can go to update data and lists.  Some of the forms for this area have not yet been  designed.  A msg box will pop up reminding you to make the form

Service Director  -  Here is where the management goes to find summary data on all of the service calls (FSR)s.  There are a variety of was he has to look at the data
Parts -  Although not fully implemented here is where the parts people would enter orders and adjust inventory.
Open and Close -  This is a fast for used to rapidly open and close a call at the same time.  Most call come in and are closed later so you use the open call form.  This is to be used in a situation where the engineer calls up and open and closes the call at the same time.  Was that redundant?

Open a Call-  	When a call comes in the dispatcher opens this for and enters the minimum information required to open call

Close a call- 	Here is where the call is closed after the repair is complete.  The dispatch persone will press the enter time and enter parts buttons if trips were made or parts were used.  If the sytem was down the down time starts with the start time and ends in a separate field called tiem sytem up.  These fields are used in calculation downtime in some of the reports and forms for the service director.

Lookup parts- 	Allows the dispatch user to lookup both partnumber and location information.

Customers-  	Self explanatory.  

Engineers- 	self explanatory execpt you can dial pager or home phone

Order parts-  	Place a parts order with ability to order several parts for several different sites.

Open call log	All calls open at this time.

Down Site log	All Sites that are down right not.  There are buttons to jump to Engineer and FSR forms

Engineer merge	Used to create a mailing list that can be used in Word6 for form letters.  Select or enter criteria and make the list.  You may have to make the missing database it is trying to write to.
Suggest		A form for the user to enter suggestions to the developer for review at a later time.

Customer merge	Same as engineer merge.  Make a cuatomer table for form letters.

Main menu	Takes you back to the main menu

Todays FSRs   	All the call that were opened today

Open Calls        	All the calls in the system that are opened at this time.  

Down Sites	All the sites that are presently down

Calls between dates  All the call that occured between any two dates

Eng list		List of all engineers wiht addresses

Cust list		List of customer with addresses and info.  To be distributed to engineers monthly

Eng by district		List of Engineers by district

Sites by district		List of Sites by district

Navagate  	A form used to navagate around the contracts area.  You can quickly select a site by either name or Serial.  You then have at your disposal buttons to take you directly to that customers phone mail options cda and Sales leads logs.

CDA log	A log to keep track of the Certificate of Delivery and Acceptance.  A very important paper containing dates of install and acceptance.  This form is to facilitate tracking them.  

Phone Log    Used for the contracts person to track phone calls to customers.  Allows contracts to view all call made to that site and promised actions and callbak dates.

Mail log		Like the phone log it is used to track correspondence to and form sites.  Enter all mail to this form and you can have a record of who sent what when.

Sales leads	As sales leads for options and otherthings come in the contracts people enter them here.  Weekly they print a report to send to sales.

Customer merge	Exactly like dispatch  merge form but writes to a different table.  The table name is on the form

Engineer merge	Sam thing
Open a call	Same as dispatch
Close a call 	Same as dispatch
engineers 	Same as dispatch
Customers 	Same as dispatch

System Options	A form with all system options for a specific site
Admin info	Administrative info for each site.  Things like billing and price information.  Thing that only contracts would use.

Tech Support Log	A log for keeping Technical support call info.  When an engineer calls in for help the tech support person records what the prob is and what advice was given.  Useful for followup on problems at a later time.

Reattach tables	A lot of the data tables are from an external database.  This table will allow you to alter the path so we can find the table.  You can use this to update attachemnts.  Make sure the path is in the record for each table and choose ok.  It will delete all attachemnts and reattach all tables. If it fials check your entries in the path area and try again.

Monthly site history	Used for marketing.  One per site.  Report has a graph indicating uptime for Year to date, Quearte to date nad Month to date.  Also included all call for the month.  It is mailed to customers indicating their maintenance record
Parts usage by system type	A listing of parts used for the month by system type
Contract cost by eng, district, customer   A listing of what the company spent servicing the sites.  Includes overtime regular time and parts cost base on our cost not list.
labor utilization by dist      Like the form it lists district and amount worked wiht a percentage based on available hours in the span of the reports dates
labor util by eng          Same as above sorted by engineeer
Custimer listings		Same as dispatch

I have placed on many reports a block of buttons to allow one to manuever rapidly around the database.  The should be self explanatroy.   The filter buttons filter the name on the form. Open ,Close, Reports, suggest, Main, Next, Prev, Last, First, New, Word jumps to word for win if available.,Eng,Cust, Parts, Back, Filter buttons
