Summary
-------

ViewNotes are online documents designed to answer questions you
may have about Microsoft Windows-based products. To read this
ViewNote in Microsoft Multimedia Viewer, a program that allows
you to read .MVB files (online Viewer documents), follow the
instructions below. ViewNotes require Microsoft Windows operating
system version 3.0 or later.

FILES THAT MUST BE DOWNLOADED
-----------------------------

This ViewNote requires the following:

 - VW003.MVB (the ViewNote)
 - VW003.IND (the ViewNote index)
 - MMVIEW.EXE (Microsoft Multimedia Viewer)

INSTALLATION
------------

Note: If you already have Microsoft Viewer (MMVIEW.EXE)
installed in your VIEWNOTE directory, skip to step 2.

To install Viewer (MMVIEW.EXE) and the files for this ViewNote
(VW003.MVB and VW003.IND), do the following:

Note: To save hard-disk space, you may prefer to copy this
ViewNote to a high-density floppy disk and run the ViewNote from
the floppy disk rather than running the ViewNote from your hard
disk). If this is the case, copy the MMVIEW.EXE, VW003.MVB,
and VW003.IND files to a floppy disk instead of to your VIEWNOTE
directory.

1. If you do not have a VIEWNOTE directory set up with
MMVIEW.EXE located in the directory, do the following to
install a read-only version of Viewer:

   a. Create a directory by choosing Create Directory from the
File menu in File Manager, typing "viewnote" (without the
quotation marks) in the Name box, and choosing the OK
      button.

   b. Download Viewer (MMVIEW.EXE) from your bulletin board
service (for example, from the Microsoft Download Service
[MSDL], OnLine, CompuServe, or GEnie). MMVIEW.EXE can be
obtained from the Software/Data Library on CompuServe,
OnLine, and GEnie by searching for the word MMVIEW or
S13434. Note that MMVIEW.EXE is compressed in the file
MMVIEW.ZIP on CompuServe, OnLine, and GEnie. After the file
has been downloaded, you must decompress the file using the
      PKware PKUNZIP utility.

Viewer can also be downloaded through the MSDL at (206)
936-6735. Viewer is located in the Windows 3.1 file area
and is in the self-extracting file MMVIEW.EXE. For more
information about the MSDL, query on the following words in
      the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

         MSDL and instructions

2. After you have downloaded MMVIEW.EXE, VW003.MVB, and VW003.IND
(and decompressed the files if you are using OnLine,
CompuServe, or GEnie), move MMVIEW.EXE, VW003.MVB, and
VW003.IND to your VIEWNOTE directory or floppy disk:

   a. In File Manager, select the files you want to move.
   b. From the File menu, choose Move.
   c. In the To text box, type the path to the VIEWNOTE
directory you created in step 1a.
   d. Choose the OK button.

---------------------

To read the "Using Windows 3.1 and Networks" ViewNote,
do the following:

1. After installing Viewer (MMVIEW.EXE), VW003.MVB, and
VW003.IND using the instructions above, run Windows
   File Manager.

from your hard disk, open the directory where Viewer,
VW003.MVB, and VW003.IND reside (the VIEWNOTE directory if you
followed the directions above) and double-click VW003.MVB.
If you are using a keyboard, select VW003.MVB and press ENTER.

   -or-

a floppy disk, run MMVIEW.EXE, choose Open from the File menu
in Viewer, select VW003.MVB, and choose the OK button.

SETTING UP A VIEWER ICON
------------------------

If you set up a Viewer icon, you can run Viewer by choosing the
icon, and then load the ViewNote by choosing Open from the
File menu in Viewer, and selecting VW003.MVB from the VIEWNOTE
directory. To set up a ViewNote icon, create a program item for
Viewer. For information about creating a program item, see pages
78-81 of the "Microsoft Windows User's Guide" for Windows version
3.1 and pages 89-91 of the "Microsoft Windows User's Guide" for
