PATCH Notes                                     91/12/13 

This version of the patch will provide a fix to problems 
using Winfax with AMI PRO for Windows. After installing 
the patch, WINFAX should be re-selected as the Printer 
inside of WordPerfect. This MUST be done even if WINFAX is
currently selected as your printer.


PATCHING WINFAX PRO - IMPORTANT NOTES!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Do not run the PATCH program to update your WINFAX PRO
from inside of Windows, or shelled-out from windows to DOS. 
The PATCH program should be run from DOS only.

The Patch procedure may take several minutes. Please be patient. 

The disk you have received contains the following files :

PATCH.EXE
PATCH.RTP
README

The PATCH.EXE program will attempt to locate the WINFAX file(s)
that need to be updated. The PATCH.EXE Program will then update 
your existing WINFAX file(s) to the new version.

For specific information on what WINFAX files will be affected by this 
patch use the LIST command line flag.

For example:            PATCH /LIST

Note:   This patch will not update the original WINFAX distribution
	disks, therefore you should keep a copy of this patch
	disk along with your original diskette in the event that you
	have to re-install WINFAX at a later date!


Running PATCH.EXE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The utility PATCH.EXE will attempt to locate your WINFAX 
files in the following directories in the given order:

	a. Firstly, the current directory is searched, if any of the
	WINFAX files are located they will be updated

	b. Next, all subdirectories of the current directory will be
	searched

	c. Finally, all directories specified using the PATH enviroment
	variable will be searched


Note:   During your original installation of WINFAX PRO, the files
	FAXMNG.EXE and VIEWER.DLL would have been placed
	either in the Windows directory (the default) or in a 
	directory specified in the search path. As a result these
	files will be located by PATCH.EXE as they will be in the 
	search path!

	The file WINFAX.DRV would have been installed in the SYSTEM
	directory which is a subdirectory of your WINDOWS directory
	(e.g. c:\windows\system)


Performing the Patch
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the simplest case (if the recommended directories were used
during WINFAX PRO installation), all the program files would be 
located in the windows directory (e.g. c:\windows) and the driver
would be located in the system sub-directory off the Windows 
directory (e.g. c:\windows\system). 

In this case perform the following operations (assuming your
disk containing the patch files and this readme file is in
drive a: and Windows is installed in the directory c:\windows) :

    c:
    cd \windows
    a:patch

If the WINFAX files to be patched are not in your Windows
directory and\or its subdirectories, change to the directories
where they are installed and run the PATCH.EXE program.
