Posters! is a quick and easy stickup notes program for Windows. It is designed to be simple to use as possible with few fancy features. Written in Visual Basic 3.0 the program requires the Microsoft distributable runtime VBRUN300.DLL. Registration: Register this program by sending $10 to: Douglas R Jackson Rt 1 Box 279 Hamilton, AL 35570 Registration removes the reminder screen/delays and provides you license to use the program on up to 10 computers you own and operate. If you choose not to register the program, please take the time to let me know what features you would like to see added to the program or what you didn't like about the current version to cause you not to register. Thank you for trying my shareware software! EMail: jackson@freenet.fsu.edu (Use paper mail to address above if E-Mail returned/rejected) Installation: Unzip the files to a directory on your hard disk and add a Posters! icon to your windows startup group. (The distributable runtime library THREED.VBX is included. This file must be present but may be in the Posters! program directory or your windows system directory.) You may use program manager to assign a short-cut key to the program while/after creating the program icon. Options: Directory option: Posters! will automatically load all existing notes from the startup directory (changeable each time Posters! is executed) onto your desktop. To change the directory during program operation, use a single right click on the minimized Posters! icon. Operation: Adding notes: To add a new note, double-click the Posters! icon and complete the pop-up form and fill in the text of the next and select OK button. Deleting notes: To delete a note click anywhere in the body of the note and select the delete button. Registered users may simply double-left-click in the body of the note. Making a note "stay on top": To cause a note to become a topmost window and remain visible above other program windows, registered users may right click in the body of the note. A note will remain "topped" until you select the note for editing with a single left click. Keyboard operation: The notes are designed so you can use the enter key in a normal fashion. While entering notes, the text will simply scroll by when you press return. It will also use automatic word-wrapping at the ends of the lines. You can then use the mouse to select "OK" (or the ESC key to abort the note) or use tab and return/space to select "OK". Notes size: Notes are initially sized to 1/16 screen width for data entry and for screen placement. If your information exceeds this length, the note will be extended automatically until it is sufficient to hold the entire note entered. This may result in overlap of succeeding notes. Notes arrangement: Notes are automatically sized and placed to allow 12 notes per screen. Additional notes are place in an overlay fashion on the previous screen of notes slightly lower and to the right of the previous layer. Program Termination: The program terminates automatically when windows terminates. Alternatively, you may use the program managers task list to end the program. Notes are saved when they are entered and deleted when requested, therefore, all notes on the screen at termination will be restored when the program is loaded again if the same directory is used/specified. Version history 1.0 - Initial release 1.1 - Fixed an error in the directory name error checking routine. 1.2 - Changes README.TXT file to document the prohibition of quotation (") marks in the body of the note. Using them terminates the note at that point! 2.0 - Changed note storage format, eliminating " in note limitations - Automatic conversion of old to new note formats - Changed user interface for deleting notes, deleting confirmation option and double-click-only deleting of notes - Allows editing of existing notes with cursor defaulting to end of note - Tiling routine changed from 1/16 screen notes with 16 per screen to 1/6 screen notes with 12 per screen to reduce their overlaying of icons at the screen bottom - # of notes limit still remains 100 2.1 - "Extra" note display at program termination (intermittent) 2.2 - Added double-click deletion and right click "topmost" options (registered version only) "Known" errors - if program is terminated via program task manager, it periodically displays a "new" note before allowing the program to terminate. You may cancel this new note by pressing ESC and the situation is avoided by allowing the program to terminate only when windows terminates.
