Basilica di Sant'AntonioSt. Anthony of Padua, that city's patron saint, is buried here in this multi-domed masterpiece, which was built over his tomb in the 13th century. Donatello designed the main altar, which is overwhelmed by his crucifix and several bronze statues and reliefs depicting the miracles of the saint. Among other relics in the cathedral's treasury is St. Anthony's tongue and larynx. Outside the church is the equestrian statue of Gattamelata, also by Donatello, renowned for its exquisite attention to detail.
