Flea MarketsThe Straw Market in the 16th-century Loggia del Mercato Nuovo (near the Palazzo di Parte Guelfa) offers straw and raffia items as well as leather. The big market is the Centrale on the Borgo San Lorenzo; morning is the time to go. An interesting fruit and vegetable patch at Piazza Santo Spirito functions until around noon every day but Sunday. Among the line of pushcarts along the Via dell'Ariento (near the Medici Chapels), the bulky fishermen's pullovers and cardigans and other sweaters have mixtures of wool and synthetic yarns that enable them to stretch. This market is closed on Sunday. The Flea Market is at Piazza dei Ciompi near the Loggia del Pesce, which was the fish market of the 16th century; closed Sunday.
