Residents, business leaders, socialites, and visitors come here to savor the history, atmosphere, and most especially the cuisine. The chefs prepare more than 35 tempting appetizers, showcased to guests on carts. But be aware that these tidbits are charged by the piece—sampling them will send your billing soaring. Carefully prepared entrées include guinea fowl, fish, and lobster, plus veal and boiled beef. Near the front, a display includes life-size replicas of the three Hungarian officers who founded the restaurant just after World War I. The dining room is decorated with tapestries and antiques, and there's live piano music during the evening hours.
