We archive many files online, these are mostly not available via
anonymous FTP but can be obtained via FTP if you get an account here.
You can obtain a free two-week trial account by using telnet or dial
up to connect to 'eskimo.com' and login as 'new'. Fill out all of the
requested information. We need a telephone number even if you telnet in.

To see what files are available to subscribers, see the file
"usr.public.ls-lR.gz", it is gzip'd ls -lR of our /usr/public directory tree.

Files that are available here via anonymous ftp are in "ftp.ls-lR.gz".

Both shell access and a menu system are available to all users. Shells
include sh, ksh, bash, csh, tcsh, and zsh. Available editors include ed, edit,
ex/vi, E (Joes own), Pico, and u-emacs. News readers available include
readnews, rn, trn, tass, tin, nn, and unidel. Mailers include BSD mail, elm,
mush, and pine.

We have five on-line Sun Sparc machines. The main server (eskimo.com)
serves as our "general login" machine. The others are dedicated for news/mail
processing, irc and muds/moo servers and for TIA.

Eskimo North now runs under SUN/OS 4.1.3, which provides both a BSD and
System-V environment permitting a wide range of software to be utilized.

Individual disk quotas are 10-meg soft, 50-meg hard. Soft quotas can be
exceeded for up to 3 days. Hard quotas are absolute.

We've got lots and lots of applications online, utilities for archiving,
compressing, format conversion, etc. We have many games including a number of
inter-active multi-user games. We have also purchased a site-license for
TIA (The Internet Adapter) which brings you SLIP/PPP like features to your
computer with no extra charge. The only drawbacks are that you don't get a
hostname nor can you use ICMP.

We archive C source, binaries for a variety of computers, text files,
gifs, and jpeg's online. These can be ftp'd or downloaded.

We have a reasonably complete C development environment, both Sun's C
compiler and GNU's gcc 2.6.3 and g++ 2.6.1. We have SCCS and RCS source code
control systems. Most of the other GNU utilities are present and available for
use.

We have all the normal Internet services, telnet, ftp, irc, finger, talk,
archie, gopher, etc.

A world-wide-web server is available for your use as is an ftp server.
