I can tell you without any doubt that the 03 solution
            described by "Captain Video" in the "03info.arc" download
            file will work.  The key (no pun intended) is to be able to
            reliably extract seed keys from 03's.  Once this process is
            available, one need only to replace U7 with a TMS 7742 with
            the old (018) ROM code plus a little patch that jams 03 keys
            from 7742 ROM to 7742 RAM, checksums them, then branches to
            start up vector in old U7 (018) code.  All of the U30
            software that we've come to know and love will then work in
            your 03 boards!  I am confident that this will work because
            I've used this technique many times before.
            Obviously, a more elegant (U30-only) solution would be nice,
            but, it may be a while longer before we see that.
            We also desperately need someone to make an emulator board
            for the 4* U24 device.  The original 4* device will pass all
            service Ids (used so far) and would be the ultimate U24
            replacement device.  Surely one of you hardware gurus (of
            which I am not) will come up with this sooner or later.
            Also, I agree completely with the "Captain" that if all the
            018/019 boards out there today were cloned to their own IDs,
            instead of someone elses,  there would be far fewer
            problems, since, everyone would be the custodian of their
            own ID, there would be no massive shutdowns, and, the
            programmers would be getting more revenue and it would be
            very difficult to ascertain how many boxes are legit.
            In closing, I also agree with the Captain that VTN publishes
            primarily bullshit and double talk (this guy obviously does
            not know what the hell he is talking about) and cannot even
            spell (for Christ sake, buy a spell checker with your word
            processor!) and, TESTRON is **FULL OF SHIT**.  Scramble Fax
            is nothing more than propaganda and advertisement for
            TESTRON ("all devices in the field are now down except
            PROTEC" - who are they kidding!).
