----------------------------- The Havoc Virus -----------------------------

The accompanying file HAVOC144.TD0 is a Teledisk v2.12 image of a 3.5" HD
floppy infected with the virus. To have a working copy of the virus you
only have to restore the image file using Teledisk.

Virus Characteristics:

1. The virus is a memory resident boot sector type with some stealth
characteristics. When memory resident the virus hooks Int 13h and
redirects disk read/write operations to a stored copy of the
   original boot sector/partition table.

2. The virus will go memory resident and infect drive C: is booted from
an infected floppy. When memory resident, any read access to track 1
   causes an infection sequence.

3. The body of the virus is stored in clusters marked as bad at the top
of the diskette. In a hard drive the virus is located in the first
   six sectors.

4. The virus will erase CMOS memory when an infected computer is booted
on the first of any month. In this way the virus does not self-destruct
like so many others do. No message is displayed.
