If you want to hear a much better American answer to Slowdive then check out Planet Im Gone or for that matter even Kasperhauser's stuff on their websites. I'd say their dreamy melodies and reverbed guitars put the Drop Nineteens to shame. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Feb 1998 00:15:52 -0500 From: Steve Coppolo Subject: Mojave3 stuff... > > I also think that Mojave 3 is an excellent band, albeit it`s not Slowdive > but > you can`t keep on doing the same thing forever even though I`m sure I > would > have liked it just as much. I also think they're excellent. Ask Me Tomorrow is brilliant, and absolutely beautiful. To tell you the truth, I'd rank it as my second favorite from Goswell/Hallstead, right behind Souvlaki. Though I think that simply rehashing classics would be a waste of their huge talent. I also love Rachel's vocals, and would not mind a bit if she sung (lead or backups) in every song. I am eagerly awaiting the new album, hoping that it'll be as great as Ask Me Tomorrow. I've never heard anything else from them other than the audio clips that I heard at their website. I must admit it's pretty catchy though. No, nothing has been decided yet. 4AD on one hand have said "late 1998" and Mojave 3 on the other are discussing with them about doing it earlier. //Erik ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 01 Mar 1998 13:49:29 -0500 From: jvanslem Subject: The Autumns .just a quick note. I saw the Autumns live a few nights ago. They put on an awesome, awesome show. As posted sometime before, the Autumns played their rendition of "Blue Skied an' clear". They faded right into it, the second song in the set. The singer started singing "You say Love............and it sounds so sweet" It was mega-dreamy. Everyone must see them live. justin ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 01 Mar 1998 22:22:53 -0800 From: JJ Moreno Subject: Re: Drop Nineteens At 10:01 PM 2/27/98 -0800, you wrote: > >is not >readily available. I heard good stuff about them, but it's more like the Ocean Blue trying to be dreampop.... Seems like there are these dreampop bands that can't even write a decent hook or song. Anyone know of some worth checking out, like Colfax abbey... Their full length album is amazing.... Why is it that bands like Closedown, and Drop Nineteens release awesome demos but can't release great stuff on full length cds!! URGH!!!! wade ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 02 Mar 1998 18:40:32 -0500 From: Andy McMillan Subject: Planet, I'm Gone/Kasperhauser Slowdivers, Hello. Here once again is the story on these two bands. P.I.G. broke up back in May of 1996 but our page remains up due to a server error. (PIG page--http://www.concentric.net/~Imgone/Index.shtml). Contrary to what it says on the page, no CD was ever produced. However, a very small number of our 5 song studio demo cassettes (30 minutes of music) remain and can be ordered through me. All I ask is either 5 bucks to cover materials and postage, or even better, a tape trade of some sort. (Our very own Kurt V. from Belgium traded me a cassette of his band "Sleeve" a couple of months ago. It is very nice stuff and I highly reccomend everyone sending him mail and trying to get one.) As for Kasperhauser, they are essentially the same band without the rhythm section. They now claim to be "heavier" and more "rockin'." Sure. Their current page can be found at: http://home.fuse.net/kasperhauser/index.html Last I heard, they had changed the name again (to "The Candy Afterlife") and are now in the process of creating another new web page. I don't think they have anything out. Thanks for all the kind words about my old band. Support your local shoegazer (and those on the list too)! Speaking of that--when does Viet's (i.e. Sweet Trip's) Darla Bliss Out come out? I got the Junior Varisty one in the mail today but no Sweet Trip. thanks again, Andy McMillan ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 03 Mar 1998 00:49:32 +0100 From: Erik Soderstrom Subject: Re: Blue shift signal > Anyone know of some worth checking out, like Colfax abbey... Or a proper homepage. Kaspar Hauser was interesting, but like someone said, closer to Swervedriver than Slowdive. Anyone buy the new Swervedriver yet by the way?
