3. Call to Action for National Boycott of Chinese Goods
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Forwarded by: Denise Lassaw Paljor <dpaljor@igc.apc.org>

SANTA MONICA, March 4, TIBET Alliance [Release to TSGs] --
We need your support in launching and sustaining a national
boycott of Chinese goods. A recent AsiaWatch publication, Detained
in China and Tibet, (2/94) states that over 80% of the political
arrests made by the government of the People's Republic of China
since 1989 have involved Tibetans. This is a remarkable number,
considering that Tibetans represent less than 1% of the total
population living under Chinese communist rule. To save Tibet, we
must act NOW. The time has come for direct action, in the form of
T.I.B.E.T. Alliance- The International Boycott for Endangered
Tibet.

The T.I.B.E.T Alliance is a national and international consortium
of Tibetan support groups who support the Alliance's efforts to
let the government of the People's Republic of China know, in
economic terms they can understand, that the time for Tibetan
independence is NOW. On March 10, the Alliance is launching a
national initiative to SAY NO TO CHINESE GOODS by publicly
trashing Chinese goods and distributing flyers asking for a
boycott of Chinese goods. We ask all support groups to focus on
this message at their March 10 rallies.

  - Conditions for Ending Boycott -
The International Boycott against Chinese Products will end when
Tibet regains its full independence; specifically, when:

    * the People's Republic of China removes its troops and
      officials from Tibet.

    * the People's Republic of China recognizes and respects a
defined border between China and the nation of Tibet.

    * the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government in exile return
to Tibet, and the Tibetan people organize their own
      government.

   - Call to Action: Group Endorsements and and Donations -
If you wish to be part of the Alliance and Say No movement, please fax
your group endorsement for T.I.B.E.T. Alliance to (310) 815-1925
(plus*51), or call boycott activist Sandra Hunnicutt at (310) 815-1925,
Linda Pfeifer at (415) 857-7828, or Laurie Leyshon at (408) 476-2236.
Our new letterhead will list all organizations supporting the
Alliance in a column on the left hand side of the page. All group
endorsements must be received by March 20, 1994, and donations to
support the activities of the Alliance are welcomed.
