Steinberg's ReCycle! For Windows Sample Analysis and Editing Hamburg - Steinberg Soft & Hardware define a whole new market sector! Linking the world of Samples and MIDI in a new & unique way with ReCycle! for Windows. Before it was not possible to place samples into sequenced music with such accuracy. 'Trial and Error' was the order of the day. Especially getting it 'just right' using drum loops was no light undertaking. When 'groovy loops' were used, it was always necessary to phrase the accompanying bass line by hand, for an acceptable result. A very time-consuming task! The solution for these problems comes, once again from Steinberg, with ReCycle ! ReCycle! analyses a sample and creates a collection of rhythmic slices. These slices are displayed and can be used to quickly create loops, all without destroying the original sample. ReCycle then creates a MIDI file containing the rhythmic information and a different note-on value for each slice. At the same time it transmits the individual slices back to the sampler & creates a full key map as it goes. Once the MIDI file and the slices are used together the original audio can be played back; but with one very important extra. The audio now exists in slices triggered by MIDI events. Now the powerful quantize functions of Cubase can be use to 're-groove' the audio to match whatever the user wishes. Or the MIDI file itself can be used to groove the bass-line. Once the scope of the technique is really grasped, the rhythmic possibilities are quite astonishing. The intuitive user-interface is fully up to the Steinberg standard and leads the user to the desired result. Also supplied is a collection of example loops and a Cubasis Demo diskette.
