Harri Tanini

History
You took the Fynning ritual at the age of ten, aided by the Clan
Tanini elder called Chu'ani. You stayed in Pallo (your home cuari)
until you were thirteen. At this time your father's strength was taken
by the ruby grip and he could no longer work the paddy fields. Your
mother looked to you to take his place as family head but you refused,
sensing that your destiny on the Wheel lay further afield. You have
disgraced your family through your refusal. Only by returning to the
clan as a Re-cha can you hope to regain your lost honour.

You took the Gharrana Lo'Teh at this time and lost all ties to Clan
Tanini. Your eyes are the golden colour of one that seeks
enlightenment. You were the youngest clan member ever to walk this
path and will be remembered for this. You left the clan soon after the
ceremony under the guidance of a Karro officer of the 10th Regiment.
(the Lathmirian Guard). He took you under his wing and began to teach
you a little of the ways of the Karro. This young lieutenant is now
Colonel Keltas Travanien and he remains a friend and teacher to this
day.

Travanien placed you in the 10th Regiment's frontiersman scouting
corps and trained you himself in the ways of combat and military
etiquette. By the age of sixteen you were a confident warrior and
followed the ways of the Lathmirian Guard.

Kuparr was a Je'Khan huntress captured in Vespin border skirmishes
between the Guard and the Eragha sister-clan. She had fought with
honour and courage and you could not stand by when you discovered she
was to be turned over to the Taladan Research Post for
experimentation. Kuparr will not forget the Ha'esh scout that saved
her from the New Scientists.

You prepared for the Mancha at the age of nineteen and completed this
spiritual ceremony with calm competence. You emerged as a full
frontiersman and became one of the respected lieutenants of the
scouting corps. Colonel Travanien once again was your lord and master.
You led your squad in many raids against the Je'Khan of the west.

Whilst patrolling the north, you met your older sister Juna, who now
worked for a Ryamis merchant called Chaa. You protected her from the
Menhis-Var Tavin and became the target of a blood-vow. The Tavin of
the golden serpent now seek your death.

You spent two years travelling with a Lysh holy man called Quali, who
is on a sacred mission to repair and maintain the many Kyashi shrines
of Vespin Province. Your squad were his bodyguard and travelled with
Quali to protect him on his journey. During these duties you witnessed
a spiritual vision of the Kyashi called Ku'Tath. You have taken this
spirit of the swamps as your own.

You traveled to Rol-Katel after this duty, for you felt that your
destiny did not lie with the frontiersmen. It took you several weeks
to find the legendary Clondis but you felt that this was where your
future lay.

History
Your latent powers first began to emerge at the tender age of sixteen. The head
aches and blackouts became increasingly common and you were no longer able to h
elp your father with his criminal dealings in Vespin. It was just after your fi
rst 'fade' that a Ja'Hansh traveller called Kruth came to your father's house a
nd told him that he had sensed great power in his son. Fearing a visit by the W
itch-hunters your father quickly had you aboard a cutter heading for Jevin. Onl
y the Institute of Kyromancy could help you to control your powers and stop you
Fading to the Darklands. Kruth travelled with you to Jevin and helped to contr
ol the pain in your mind. This noble creature has now returned to Ne'Hal but ha
s invited you to visit the City of Knowledge when you are ready to do so.

It was on a Chinte' F'har cutter from Geva to Jevin that you first met Marra Gi
hr. This pale Karro youth was three years your junior but travelled to the Inst
itute for the same reasons as yourself. You disliked Gihr from the first time y
ou met and felt the need to best the youth in every competition that the two of
 you undertook.

Your father contacted other members of the Geldir Tavin upon arrival in Jevin a
nd you met with Kell Trudahn, one of Papa Geldir's most trusted lieutenants. Yo
u swore loyalty to the Geldir in return for protection from the Tavin whilst yo
u stayed in Jevin. You have a red wheel tattoo to show your affiliation with th
is family.

By the age of twenty one you and Gihr were the two most promising pupils within
the Institute. You narrowly beat Gihr to the prestigious Purple Cluster of Kho
val award for the years best pupil. This is a fact which has never been forgott
en by your great rival.

You were young and believed yourself to be invincible. In those early years you
made a name for yourself as an arrogant and capable young Kyromancer. When you
insulted the mighty Zanitar Kuul you learnt a costly lesson in humility. You s
till wear the terrible scars of your first duel with the old master.

You have never followed the traditional Kyromancer belief in neutrality and hav
e used your powers to meddle in the affairs of lesser mortals. This has include
d working for the Geldir Tavin and aiding a local Karro politician called Merty
n Jack to rise in power in the port council. When you were caught breaking into
another Kyromancer's study for the Geldir your reputation suffered once again.
In Jevin you are known as 'the Sal'tha' (the red stealer). Your master, Jaaris
By'Thal, always allowed you to follow your own path to power. You remain indiv
idualistic, even for a Kyromancer.

At the age of twenty five you became a full Kyromancer and you were free to tra
vel with outwith Jevin, having gained your 'Tabla Rasa' badge. You spend much o
f your time amongst the Ha'esh of Clan Malto who live in a sheltered cuari in t
he swamps to the west of Jevin. At first they fear you as a Kyashi but you grad
ually build up a trust with these people. The rumours of a white-skinned Karro
of power ruling the Malto spreads slowly across Gevuria.

In Jevin, the War of the Star began in 1584 and a splinter group of Kyromancers
led by Marra Gihr took control of the Institute. Master By'Thal disappeared an
d his halls were destroyed. Many know of the hatred which exists between Gihr a
nd yourself, and few members of the Institute are prepared to side against the
new Master of the Institute. The few allies that you have in Jevin all began to
disappear and you found yourself outcast from the port. You must be careful no
t to attract too much attention. The watchers of the Star are everywhere. You h
ave joined the Clondis as a means of protection and disguise. It was not long b
efore a man of your means found the legendary organisation.

History
Your twin sister, Lili and yourself were born in Rol-Katel to Clan Moun. Once y
ou had undertaken the Fynning at a surprisingly young age of eight, both you an
d your sister were taken by Jalti, a wise clan elder. She began to train you as
warraji, for the Moun hold all twins as sacred keepers of the Ways. She contin
ued to teach you both until your fourteenth birthday, when Lili was tempted tow
ards the Dark Dreampaths by a mysterious lysh named C'Tahn. Even Mistress Jalti
could not prevent your sister from stopping her training and following this en
igmatic stranger.

The Mistress continued to teach you the ways of warraji alone in the swamps. Yo
ur growing abilities are put to the test when you witness an assassination atte
mpt on Lord Archalan, a Katel Province councillor. Your intervention saved his
life and he remains in your debt.

Whilst still under Mistress Jalti's instruction, you learn of your father's dis
honourable association with the Fennris Tavin. You later discover that both you
r brothers and your father have been killed in mysterious circumstances. You ar
e torn between investigating their deaths and completing your training. You cho
se the latter but are still plagued by guilt. You believe that the Tavin were i
n some way involved and have vowed to solve the murders if you can.

You finished your training as a Warraji at the age of twenty and were preparing
to return to your Clan halls when you learnt that your sister was training to
become a Channi. Lili had undertaken the Gharrana Lo'Teh ritual and now follows
the path of enlightenment. She sought out an almost extinct clan and persuaded
the ageing Channi to take her on as his pupil. You sensed that she followed th
e Dark Dreampaths and brought great dishonour upon your family. To balance this
wrong and to correct the turning of the Chon'da Harek (the Wheel of Life) you
approached Master Lotan to take you on as his humble pupil. Lotan was the young
est Channi of Clan Moun and agreed to teach you the ways of combat.

You met your sister twice over the next three years as you learnt your craft an
d both times she bested you in combat. You were left for dead after the first d
uel and were saved only through Master Lotan's skills of healing. The viscous s
car across the left side of your neck constantly reminds you of your narrow esc
ape. Lili had become a full Channi when you next met and she cut down your Mast
er with astonishing ease. Her minions ambushed you and you fled, dishonouring y
ourself and Master Lotan.

You completed your training by yourself with the aid of a wandering Lysh called
Kati. You were shamed by your failure to save Lotan and believed that you were
no longer worthy of the Clan Moun name. You took the Gharrana Lo'Teh ritual an
d became a free spirit seeking your own path to enlightenment.

You learnt that your sister had allied herself with the Fennris Tavin and was u
sing her sacred skills to help this scum. Once again she had dishonoured the fa
mily name. The wise Kati taught you the ways of swamp and water and you complet
ed your training at the age of 26. You have recently traveled to your old home
of Rol-Katel for you believe that your destiny lies there. You have joined the
organisation called the Clondis. They are an honourable people and will perhaps
aid you on the path to enlightenment.

History
Your early memories are a haze. You first remember a siltreaver raid against th
e trading cutter on which your family were sailing. Both your parents were kill
ed in the raid but your two brothers and yourself were taken to the thieves tow
n of Jagan. You lost touch with your older brother, Kain, but you managed to pr
otect and bring up your younger brother, Dalton, on the streets of this dangero
us town. You found that your sharp wit earned you a place on the 'Howling Davin
' a Reaver cutter belonging to the rich Tyme family. You and Dalton worked in t
he galley of this feared ship and became a regular part of the crew.

Your intelligence soon came to the notice of Captain Jerry Dunach, one of the m
ost respected and feared reavers of Jagan and a powerful figure in the Tyme fam
ily. You worked in the port of Jagan for the captain as messenger and spy. You
still have his own personal signet ring as a means of identification. This mark
ed your loyalty to the Tyme family and these ties remain in place to the presen
t day. You had several run-ins with a sly Karro named Dareus Towl during this t
ime. This rogue was a watchdog for the Institute of Law and he dearly wanted to
catch Captain Dunach. You have a respect and rivalry with Towl which stems fro
m two years of cat-and-mouse on the streets of Jagan.

You learnt that Kain had died at the hands of Kuth reavers during this time and
there is no love lost between you and that family. You set up many deals which
damaged the reputation and profits of the Kuth family whilst you worked for th
e Captain, and there is a price on your head for this reason. One attempt on yo
ur life would surely have succeeded if it had not been for the timely intervent
ion of the Chinte' F'har merchant called Garrarrt of the Hesk family. You are s
till in debt to this fellow.

As you rose through the ranks of the Tyme, Dunach came to realise that you woul
d be of more use to the family if you were placed in Treth as an agent. At the
age of 22, you were sent to work with Ferdinand Farris, a Tyme political agent
working in the Chamber of Gentlemen. This honourable man taught you the skills
of covert operations and the ways of politics in Treth. You work around the doc
klands gaining trust and information from sailors and merchants for your master
. During the following year, you become increasingly involved with the dealings
of a Kyromancer known as Zanitar Kuul, a Master of the organisation known as '
The Star'. This dangerous opponent grew suspicious after a time and decided tha
t you were too much of a nuisance. Farris decided that it was best if you left
before Kuul disposed of you permanently. You had stolen several unreadable docu
ments from the Kyromancer and had angered this powerful individual.

You arrived in Rol-Katel at the age of twenty-four and met with Raja Tann, a Ha
'esh danja that worked in the Ghowda gallery. She helped you to establish yours
elf in the area before you entered the Academy of Science. The pair of you were
the only Tyme agents currently operating in Rol-Katel and your task was to try
to infiltrate the Institute of New Science. You chose to learn the ways of the
Signaleers and became friendly with a fellow student called Jess Tarada. For a
year you continued to study with little interruption. Then Kuul caught up with
you. Several friends of the Kyromancer spotted you in the Windbays where you o
ften spent your time. They caught and killed Tann before you could warn her. By
the time that Kuul arrived in Rol-Katel you were once again underground but co
uld not return to the Institute of New Science. Apparently Kuul wanted those do
cuments badly.

You have returned to using your real name and have turned to the organisation c
alled the Clondis for help. Perhaps they will help to hide you from the wrath o
f Kuul.
