FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ACTRESS KATE MULGREW ANNOUNCED AS CAPTAIN OF THE 'Star Trek:Voyager"

Ms. Mulgrew Joins Cast as First-Ever Female Captain of "Star Trek"

HOLLYWOOD, SEPTEMBER 16, 1994 -- Actress Kate Mulgrew will join the cast of
"Star Trek: Voyager" as the first-ever female captain of a Federation
Starship, replacing actress Genvieve Bujold, who resigned the role after
several days of filming. Ms. Mulgrew will immediately join the
previously-announced cast of this one-hour series scheduled to premiere in
January 1995 on the United Paramount Network.

In making the announcement, creator/executive producer Rick Berman stated,
"The Starship Voyager is lucky to have such a gifted actress as Kate Mulgrew
at its helm."

From creators/executive producers Rick Berman, Michael Piller and Jeri Taylor,
"Star Trek: Voyager" is set in the same time frame as "Star Trek: The Next
Generation" and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." The series chronicles the
adventrues of the Starship U.S.S. Voyager which finds itself in a distant part
of the galaxy along with a former enemy, the Maquis. Together, they must find
their way back to Federation space.

(mole's note: they list the cast: I will only detail Kate Mulgrew's credits:
the cast is otherwise unchanged since the other press release regarding the
Voyager cast.)

Kate Mulgrew: Currently appearing in the feature film "Camp Nowhere," Mulgrew
has also appeared in "Throw Momma From the Train" and "A Stranger is
Watching." She has appeared in numerous television produciton including the
starring role in the NBC series, "Kate Loves A Mystery" (Mrs. Columbo) as well
as series regular roles on ABC's "Ryan's Hope," and NBC's "A Man of the
People." Mulgrew has also appeared in CBS's "For Love and Glory," "Roses are
for the Rich" and "Murphy Brown." In addiiton, she has appeared in NBC's
"Daddy," "Cheers" and "The Word" as well as ABC's "Roots: The Gift," "The
Manions of America" and "A Time for Miracles."

(And the character's name is now Captain Kathryn Janeway.)

Hope I've been informative! any typos are my own, and this is forwarded as
net.information, not as an official press release. ie. NOT with permission,
but it is listed as for immediate release.

Slainte'--
