Well, I had to get your attention somehow didn't I?

This is an alphatest copy of a brand new peice of virus killing software
from Sircware, named: Sircware VK PRO. This version was finished on Sunday
the 24th July 1994 at 7pm. I was going to wait until it was a more complete
program with less bugs but I thought, what the hell I'll compile it and
let it start it's journey around the world!  

This program will be updated and made to recognise more viruses on a very
regular basis if and only if I get some feedback. It's not going to be
one of them programs that I write and get no coments etc.

You will eventually find out this version recognises 61 bootsector viruses.
Now as most in-the-know Atari owners will know, UVK recognises nearly 80 of
the little blighters. So why should you use this instead of UVK? Well for a
start the extra viruses that UVK recognises are very obscure ones that most
of you lot will never EVER find. Besides that, VK PRO is going to be
much more feature packed than all of the competition!

Theres one particular feature that I'm VERY proud of. VK PRO is the only
ST virus killer in the world that not only recognises Link viruses, but can
fully repair infected files. Well. Almost. It can infact fully repair a
Ulura infected file, and also fully repair a Papa Garfield infected file.
It can deactivate a milzbrand infected file, but not yet fully repair it.
The other known link viruses have proven very difficult to master. One of
them called VCS is created with a Virus Construction Kit and because of
this the amount of different versions that could be going around makes it
very difficult. Regardless, I'll be keeping at it.

Another innovative idea (well for the ST) is that VK PRO uses signature
files to recognise bootsectors. The advantage of this is that I don't have
to keep releasing new versions of the program all the time because I can
simply release a new sigature file. So, say if a new virus suddenly pops up
on a coverdisk or something I can have a new signature file released
in under an hour! You may be worried about the security of these signature
files. Well you needent be. The signature file contains only about 10 bytes
of bootsectors, and even this data is encrypted so nobody can play with it!

So if you want to see this program mature, then get intouch. In the future
there is a possibility that VK PRO may go Shareware. But, if you get in
touch before hand with, say, unrecognised bootsectors, or help of any kind
then I promise to send you a fully registered version free of charge.
