Edith Manual About Edith 21st May 1994 ABOUT EDITH You are having a look at the Demonstration version of the first commercial release of the Edith desktop text editress package. EDITH is one of the most flexible and user-friendly text editors currently existing for any micro computer platform. The program's ability to work with text selections of arbitrary complexity, as well as many other new ideas such as visible text blocks and the text data trash make powerful editing features accessible to computer users who want a computer program to understand THEIR wishes, and not vice versa. EDITH is available NOW for any Atari system with at least 1 megabyte of on-board memory, at a very affordable price of approximately 110 dutch guilders (60 US dollars) including 17.5% Dutch BTW (VAT) within the EC. For countries outside the EC, the price can be slightly higher (120 guilders) depending on the method of payment. Versions for other operating systems such as X windows and MS-Windows will be presented in the future. ABOUT THE DEMO VERSION This DEMO version is a complete version of the first release (1.2) of Edith Professional, without the operations SAVE TEXT and SAVE TEXT BLOCK. ABOUT THESE MANUAL PAGES The on-line help pages were explicitly written for quick reference, as a convenient supplement to the printed manual. Not even nearly all of EDITH's features are described here, and the help pages do not aim at giving an explanation, but rather remind the user of the one in the printed manual. There is a manual page for each type of window. So when you hit HELP when a text window is on top, you will get a different page than when you hit HELP on one of the dialog windows. COPYING This DEMONSTRATION copy of Edith Professional may be copied freely, provided that all files are distributed, and no changes are made to either the files or the structure of the ZOO archive as a whole. The shareware release EDITH 1.0 is, from now on, free. All Edith versions V1.189 and higher are, unless explicitly stated otherwise, strictly personal, and any copying of those or the printed Edith user guide is illegal. All Edith software, INSTALL.PRG, the files README.1ST and the on-line manual pages are Copyright 1994 ZFC, Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
