Greetings Nathan & distinguished judges,

The following paragraphs are a description of my two (2) contest
entries.

The file LOGOSMITH is my business card logo designed using some
of the Compugraphic fonts and Outline Art, having been printed on
Gold Nugget stock with black thermographed ink. I will enclose
samples with my disk to be sent via mail. Notice the man pulling
an ampersand out from the monitor, in an effort to convey the
computer generated aspect of modern typography. The concept is a
comglomeration of a die cut and art deco style, used specifically
to take advantage of the printed surface and ink. A slight
distortion was deliberately used to enhance perspective due to
inherently small dimensions of the business card.

The file JAZZMAN is my most intensive Outline Art effort to date.
It started life as an extension of the man in LOGOSMITH, and has
evolved many times before finally settling on a musician. Because
most full body illustrations tend to lose their intricacies on a
letter sized sheet, I chose to draw the subject from only the
waist up. Going with that decision, the saxophone was chosen,
best suited for it's size relative to the torso. This allowed me
to embelish extensive detail of the performer and his instrument.

The musicians hair was modeled after Nathan's bushy mane.

Sincerly,
