--- VERY old documentation (as if you could call this documentation?) --- Now M()ir Brandts Honk BBS and myself (Insh_Allah ... in full: Mohammed Hu Akhbar Insh_Allah) are UTTER, UTTER PROUD to present to all you ATARI ST freakos (still using ARC and all the other ancient archivers there WERE) the newly ported version of UNARJ 2.00, used on the IBM PC. version 2.00: This new little cocksucker decompresses your files a little faster than before and besides that: it can use recursed subdirs like LHARC can. Furthermore, we at M()ir Brandts Honk BBS are very pleased with ARJ/UNARJ because we can supply you with a whole lotta more stuff in the same amount of teeny weeny little kilobytes that have to go through your modem. No doubt about it you will be pleased too to hear this, 'cause it means you can download much more warez than before from our BBS and any other BBS that's smart enough to use ARJ 2.0. We just converted UNARJ (still C-source by the way) today (29-04-91) to the ST while including some little features you'll surely like. UNARJ-ST 2.0 can extract multiple .ARJ-files at once to the same target-directory by specifying wildcards like '*.ARJ'. You may also specify a target-directory which doesn't exist yet; UNARJ-ST will create that directory (or directories if you're that crazy) at unpacking time so you won't have to bother about the 'Create Folder'-menu-option at your Desktop: just run the damn thing, think about the place you'd like to put the garbage and off you go unpacking! While unpacking our little bastard will check if the files to be extracted already exist at the target-path and will prompt you about overwriting the old one if you like. version 2.00 (rev. IA1) Insh_Allah wasn't all too much happy about the achived result, so he grabbed the ARJ-archive-viewer C-source and put it into UNARJ 2.00. So you now have default ARJ-archive view, while you can extract the files you want by using the appropriate parameters... But that wasn't enough still, so Insh_Allah went for the banners and comments there may be included in an ARJ-archive. A banner and a comment within a archive is something new to ST freakos, but PC-users using PKZIP or ARJ 2.0 surely know what it means. It means extra support for the user, because every file within an archive can be commented for more info about that file than there can be put in the filename. Furthermore we have banners at the front of the archive, so anybody who delivered you an ARJ-archive can do a little advertising for themselves... And finally we have an option everybody with just one drive longed for long time: the /K-option: put your utils-disk in the drive: run UNARJ20C.TTP and the program will wait for a keypress before doing anything with any archive: you may first put a datadisk into the drive where there was your utils-disk before! This way you don't have to copy UNARJ20C.TTP to every disk with ARJ-files if you want to view or extract those files!!! But we are not ready yet! We also included our own monochrome & color-fonts into the program in order to enable you to view IBM-banners and comments with special IBM-characters. This way you won't see those Hebrew chars when you ought to see IBM-box-chars... NOTE: take care with this option: I didn't test it with GDOS, so please send a little mail-message to the BBS if it runs (or doesn't (that should be too bad)) and besides: IF YOU USE TURBO ST OR ANY OTHER SCREEN OUTPUT SPEEDER, PLEASE CHECK YOUR AUTO-FOLDER TO SEE IF THE SEQUENCE IN WHICH ALL YOUR AUTO-STUFF IS LOADED IS OK, BECAUSE THE PROGRAM MAY NOT SWITCH TO ITS OWN FONT (AND THUS STILL DISPLAY THE SYSTEMFONT WITH THOSE UGLY HEBREW CHARS INSTEAD OF IBM-BOXES) BECAUSE TURBO ST 1.82 OR ANY OTHER SUCKER ISN'T LOADED AS ONE OF THE LAST PROGRAMS: PLEASE TEST IT THOROUGHLY BEFORE GIVING ME THE BLAME: I ALLREADY SPEND A WHOLE SUNDAY ON TRYING TO FIND THE 'BUG' IN MY SOFTWARE: AT 1:00 AM IT CAME OUT IT WAS MY AUTO-FOLDER-SEQUENCE (WHICH DID GREAT WITH OTHER PROGRAMS!) WHO WAS FUCKING ME UP! (GUESS HOW I FELT THEN!!!) That's why I warn you, not because I don't want to hear about bugs, but because it could be one of the reasons why the stuff shouldn't work the way it is decribed overhere... Then here will follow the list of parameters you can input at the commandline, just as if you ran UNARJ20C.TTP without any parameters! Extra additions by Insh_Allah (font/options/comments/banners) Usage: UNARJ [options] [archive] [options] [extract_path] [options] : [[drive:\]path\]archive[.ext] filename.ext may include wildcards: all matching archives will be processed. (archive-default = *.ARJ) : [drive:\]path[\] may be a path which must still be created: UNARJ will take care of that too! (extract-path-default = current dir) :
