MultiBBS Launcher v0.14 Introduction ------------ MultiBBS Launcher came into being because I didn't like the way Tomshell messed with the screen when it launched the bbs program. Henceforth there is MultiBBS which is designed to detect either a remote or Local caller to your BBS Program and is currently able to support 1 or 2 BBS Programs. It currently supports ProBBS, Octopus, QuickBBS & QuickBBS v1.12, & ST-Keep BBS. Disclaimer ---------- MultiBBS was written in Lattice C v5.56 and was written on a Mega 2 ST with 4 megs. So, I haven't had the oportunity to see how it works on other platforms. MultiBBS doesn't make any non standard calls so it shouldn't cause any dificulity with your computer. If you run into any problems or would like to see other features added, just drop me a line - I can be reached through the following NetWorks: John Curtis BBS: 1-817-539-8228 AtariNet: 51:2/13.0 NeST : 90:302/0.0 FidoNet : 1:395/32.0 TurboNet: 100:220/0.0 Genie : J.CURTIS3 Instructions ------------ To set-up MultiBBS is pretty easy, just break out your favorite text editor and load the MULTIBBS.CTL file. A few simple rules must be followed. RULE #1 - All lines that start with a ; are comments only... RULE #2 - All of the Commands must be enter in Capital letters, no exceptions and must have at least one space after the command Thats it for the rules!!! COMMANDS: -------- BBSBAT - This command defines the path to the BBS.BAT file that Semper writes when a remote carrier is detected. This must be the complete path with filename. For BinkleyTerm users this would be the complete path where BBSBATCH.BAT is written and be sure to select BBSBATCH in your BinkleyTerm config file. BBS1 - This command defines the complete path with filename to your BBS Program that you are using. NOTE: If you are only using one BBS Program you must utilize this command as the program defaults to BBS1 when ONE is specified for QTY. TYPE1 - This command determines what type of bbs program you are using and only the following Types are excepted for this command and they must be in capital letters. COMMANDS ACCEPTED: PROBBS - This is for ProBBS OCTOPUS - This is for Octopus QUICKBBS - This is for QuickBBS QBBSNEW - This is for QuickBBS v1.12 & above STKEEP - This is for ST-Keep BBS BBS2 - This command defines the complete path with filename to your BBS Program that you are using as selection number 2. NOTE: If you are only using one BBS Program you must utilize BBS1 when ONE is specified for QTY. TYPE2 - This command determines what type of bbs program you are using for BBS2 and only the following Types are excepted for this command and they must be in capital letters. COMMANDS ACCEPTED: PROBBS - This is for ProBBS OCTOPUS - This is for Octopus QUICKBBS - This is for QuickBBS QBBSNEW - This is for QuickBBS v1.12 & above STKEEP - This is for ST-Keep BBS MODEM - This command is the complete path with filename of the program that you are using to raise the carrier when the bbs is run in local mode. This program is run just before your bbs program and is a option. If you don't wish to run a program to raise your carrier just leave it blank. MODCMD - Here you have the option of specifing a command line to be sent along with the program you specified in the command MODEM. It is optional and just leave it blank if it is not needed. QTY - Here you specify the number of BBS Programs you wish to run. The only allowable entries are either ONE or TWO and they must be in capital letters. TEXT - With this command you can create the MENU that will be displayed to either a Local or Remote caller. You can specify up to 24 lines. Each line must start with the same command TEXT and you must use a character to define the left edge of the text. In the example CTL file I use a " to define the left limit. One thing to remember here is whatever character you use as the Left Limit marker will be stripped off of the menu that is displayed. So, for convience it may be best for you to just use the " as I have in the example. Also, BBS # 1 is selected from the menu by entering 1 and BBS # 2 is selected by entering 2. Thats it!!! OPERATION: --------- The only operational requirements this program has is the MULTIBBS.CTL file must be in the same directory as the Program otherwise you will get a error message stating that the CTL file is not found... IMPORTANT NOTE: This program will not set your environmental variables for -------------- you, it only reads the environmental variables that you have set for your system. You can utilize Autoenv.Prg or Gemenv.prg to automatically set your variables from within your autofolder... Or you can utilize any other program that will set the environmental variables that you want... MultiBBS Launcher is a Product of C&C SoftWare and is FreeWare!!! Written by John Curtis.
