~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CALLCOST DOCUMENTATION v1.4 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Any bug reports, and/or suggestions, please forward them to me by netmail to either FidoNet 2:255/375 or NeST 90:102/131. Hi! In this archive you should find the following files: CALLCOST.TTP - The main program. CALLCOST.CTL - An example configuration file. CONVERT.TOS - Required to convert logfiles created by previous versions of Callcost into new format. CALLCOST.TXT - This text! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This version of Callcost, and any future versions that may appear are now shareware. If you use this program regularly then please send œ5 to the address shown at the end of this text file. I'm sure that you'll save that much in the first quarter when you've seen how much your calls are costing! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Welcome to the latest version of Callcost. It's been quite a long time since I released the last version, and since then the program has more than doubled in size! However, there has been many improvements made since then, and the major one is the costing of calls. No longer does it rely on the costs recorded in the Binkley log file! Now it calculates costs correctly for UK calls (except for the dreaded b1 charges!). To ensure that Callcost works correctly, please read through this file first. If you don't then anything can happen! It is not that long so it won't take you more than a few minutes, and, of course, you will then get the best out of this program. Firstly, if you have run previous versions of Callcost, you must run the program CONVERT.TOS on your current CALLCOST.LOG. Just put it in the same folder and run. It will bring it bang up to date. It will produce a backup file in case anything should go wrong, God forbid. It may also reduce the cost of your bill! I have now incorporated a control file which makes Callcosts operation much simpler, and more powerful. If a control file is present it will take priority over the commandline, the commandline is actually ignored. So what are these new features then? A small example control file is to be found in the archive. It does not contain all the possible commands. I will detail these briefly, as they should be fairly obvious to all. BINKLEYLOG Drive and full pathname to your Binkley logfile. The actual filename is not required. If you use the control file then this command must be present. COSTLOG Drive and full pathname to where you wish to keep the CALLCOST.LOG file. If it does not exist then CALLCOST will create the necessary folders. SYSTEMLOG Drive and full pathname to where you wish to keep the CALLSYS.LOG file. Again, folders will be created if necessary. This file is quite handy as I now include a total cost including the dreaded V.A.T. as well as the usual reports. This file will only be activated when this command is included. QUIET Run in Quiet mode. PRINT Print the CALLCOST logfile. BACKUP Produce a backup file each time CALLCOST is run. CHARGE I have added this option so that if our wonderful BT decide to increase (or decrease) the cost per unit then it can be included with effect from the time of entry of this command. Default is 0.042. Format is : 0.042 DATA Keep a list of local phone numbers here. List one numbers number per line - I don't expect people to have a huge END amount of local numbers anyway! MERCURY Here you can insert the Mercury prefix so that it is stripped from the number stored in the log file. Note: Mercury charges are not applied.... BT costs are still used! I have no idea of how much Mercury charges are or how they are applied, so it may be some time before they are implemented. Anyway, I cannot get Mercury so I cannot say I've been that interested in it! The commands may be written in uppercase, or lowercase letters. If you wish to insert any comments in the control file then you must precede them with a semi-colon (;). Without a control file CALLCOST will work in it's usual way. I don't think that the speed of the program has been affected too much by my additions. In fact, I appear to be getting figures of 2 - 3 seconds most runs! My thanks go to John Charles and Mark Matts, who have both given my previous versions a good thrashing, and haven't even lost their hard disks yet. Also, thanks to Daron Brewood who came forth with suggestions, and has replaced his previous program for calculating calls with this one! The address to send your dosh to is: Robert Darling, 11B Turketel Road, Folkestone, Kent, CT20 2PA. Thanks to anyone who actually sends some - THANKS!
