Program's Purpose: FIA's Song and Artists Tracking System is
music business software (~10 megs) that is extremely versatile.
It tracks songs written (publishing, writer's %, tapes sent...),
equipment inventory (currently owned and sold), clients
(contracts, royalty %'s...), employees (temporary and
permanent), your project studio bookings (bookings for hire as
well as contracted clients), and provides numerous printouts
associated with day to day operation in this type of business.
This shareware version is fully functional (not time limited).

How to install: Extracting the Archived Files:

1) The tracking system's archived file should consist of one
file of about 10 megs which is extracted into several smaller
files along with this readme.txt file.

2) You should have already copied this file to an empty
subdirectory and unzipped the archive using pkzip.

3) Once the files are extracted, you should then run the SETUP
program to install FIA's Tracking System on your harddrive.

4) Once setup is complete, delete the files in the extraction
subdirectory.

Status of the program: This software is shareware.

Question and Answers

What Does the Tracking System Do?

Song Library - the Song Library Manager will track all
information regarding each song written by you or your company.
This includes the amount of studio time used, any miscellaneous
costs associated with the song, tape locations, copyright
numbers, publishing information and percentages, writers
percentages, category for the song, time length, and many more
bits of information. It also prints numerous forms used to keep
track of the mixing board settings, outboard gear settings, etc.
Lastly, it keeps up with where demo tapes were sent. There are
numerous other features included that are not list to hold down
the size of this web page.

Instrument and Equipment Inventory Log - the Inventory Manager
tracks all of your never ending precious equipment. From the
name of the equipment and manufacturer, to the purchase cost,
total received if traded, dates, and the location of the
equipment. The system will present the information in any order
as well as by within a range of dates. Serial numbers are also
retained for insurance purposes. The quest for the newest sound
and therefore the constant purchase of equipment makes this
feature of the Tracking System extremely valuable.

Studio Appointments - the Studio Manager tracks studio use by
both clients (people under contract with your organization) and
patron (paying customers that rent your studio space). After
entering basic information like name, address, and phone
numbers, the system keeps up with what additional people are
needed for the studio session. This includes engineers,
musicians, producers, directors, video personnel, and
miscellaneous costs. Both the type and the amount of the
downpayment are recorded and bills are printed for patrons while
the client's account is billed.

As a bonus for becoming a registered owner of the Tracking
System, a Checking Account Manager is provided. This simplified
accountant is intended to track your checking account but should
not be used instead of a true accounting program. Additionally,
several forms will be available after registration.

Other components of the Tracking System include both an Employee
Manager (for tracking all pertinent information regarding both
temporary and permanent employees) and a Schedule Manager (to
maintain who should be on duty and when). The system has a
bulletin board for announcements and allows each employee to
have a separate password which can be set to prevent
unauthorized access to the system. Last of all note that the
system integrates your contracted clients with your Song Library
such that songs can be assigned.

Good luck in your music business endeavors and bon appetite!
