[1] INTRODUCTION

Welcome to The Book of Islam, this is a multimedia hypertext version 
of the Quran, Hadith and other Islamic writings.

This current version is a beta test version. Hence you may find errors
and omissions.

The Book of Islam Sound Pack contains routines and data to be run
together with The Book of Islam, which should be available from the same
source.

The Book of Islam Full Text Search Pack contains routines and data to be
run together with The Book of Islam, which should be available from the
same source.

[2] USAGE

In order to run this package, you will need a PC compatible running MS
Windows. This package extensivly uses the Windows help engine, thus
winhelp.exe must be accessible by windows.

The package follows the winhelp philosophy of hypertext links, refer to
your Windows manual or Help|How to use help.

You will also need the Microsoft ADPCM sound driver in order to
properly hear any playback.

[3] INSTALLATION

Installation is a simple process. The stages below presume installation
from a floppy disk (A:). Installation is also feasible from a CD-ROM
or Hard Disk, as long as the files can be found in one directory, in
this case substitute A: with the Drive and Directory name eg D:\BOIINST

* Start Windows

* Choose File|Run (Windows 3.1) or Start|Run (Windows 95)

* Type A:SETUP in the dialog box.

* Follow the on screen instructions.

Note a full installation is recommended for first time users, you may
then later delete files that you don't use eg the sound and graphics
files.

If you wish to uninstall the package just delete all the files copied to
your directory.

[5]     UPGRADING FROM A PREVIOUS VERSION

To upgrade from a previous version simply specify the same installation
directory as the old version.

[6] ERRORS

The following are some errors that you may come across, with some
explanations to what is happening.

WARNING : Unidentified Call to PlaySoundClip

This should not happen, unless you have upgraded The Book of Islam,
without upgrading the Sound Pack.

WARNING : File Open Error

The DLL cannot find or cannot access the sound clip you asked for, the
sound clip may also be in use, or it may be missing.

WARNING : Play Error

The DLL cannot access the sound driver, you may be trying to play two
sounds at once, or there may be a problem with your sound driver.

The following are some errors that you may come across, with some
explanations to what is happening.

ERROR : Missing or Old Index File

The index file islam.ind cannot be found, make sure that this file is in
the same directory as the DLL's and the main help file.

ERROR : Routine Not Found

The full text search support dlls cannot be found.
