Microsoft Windows NT, Beta March 1993
Patch for WordPerfect 5.2 Printing Problem

The Microsoft Windows NT product group has recently identified a printing
problem with the March Beta release of Windows NT. If you have installed
the March Beta release you may encounter problems printing from
WordPerfect 5.2. Although the application appears to recognize that the
job is printing, the print spooler will receive a job of 0 bytes and no
output will be printed.

If you encounter this problem, please take the following steps to remedy
this behavior. We appreciate your efforts in reporting problem areas and
encourage you to continue working with us to improve the product. We
apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Instructions to resolve the problem behavior:

1. Logon to Windows NT.

2. Execute the MS-DOS Command Prompt from the Program Manager.
Locate KRNL386.EXE for x86-based installations and KRNL286.EXE for
RISC-based installations on your hard drive in the Windows NT system path.
For example, CD \WIN31\SYSTEM32 or change directories to the appropriate
system directory for your Windows NT installation.

3.	Insert the floppy patch disk into the floppy disk drive and copy
the new file from the patch disk to the proper Windows NT system path
location of your Windows NT installation to replace the failing file.
For x86-based installations for example, at the command line type,
COPY A:KRNL386.EXE C:\WIN31\SYSTEM32. For RISC-based installations,
replace KRNL286.EXE.

4. Exit Program Manager and Shutdown from Windows NT by pressing
CTRL-ALT-DEL, and select Shutdown, then OK. You may now log back on and
proceed as normal.
