Career Test version B0.0 - 32 bit

Platform: Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0
and Windows NT 3.51 (Service Pack 5 suggested)

Career Test is a series of tests designed to determine
your aptitudes in six areas. The aptitudes are then matched
to a database of over 1,100 careers to generate a list of
careers suited for you.

Installation:

Unzip the program to a temporary directory and execute the
setup.exe program.

This is a Visual Basic 5.0 program. All the runtime files
are included in this package.

Distribution:

This program is freeware. Please distribute freely, but only
if you do not profit financially from the distribution.
It is fully functional and not crippled in any way.

Bugs:

This program is considered Beta because the text files and
databases are not well proof-read. You will find many
spelling and grammer errors while using this software.
However, the program itself has been tested thoroughly on
all platforms. There is one bug, but because the effect of
this bug is a disirable feature, it has not been fixed.
This bug happens when a career item matches more than one
of your aptitude groups. That item will appear more than
once in the generated list (this is the bug). Since there
is no other method to indicate when a career hits on more
than one of your aptitude groups, this bug actually makes
these careers stand out from the rest - as they should.

The text files are regular text files, so if you don't
like the spelling and grammer errors, you can use any
text editor to fix them yourself. It should be pretty
clear by the names of the text files on how they are used
by Career Test. Just don't add or delete any blank lines
or delete characters that look strange or out-of-place as
they are probably used by the program as delimiters when
extracting information from the files. Bewarned - there
is nearly half a megabyte of text.

Debug mode:

There is a special debug mode. This mode allows you to get
answers to all the questions, view all careers that match any
aptitude group and to experiment with the scoring routines
built into the program. Since this debug mode allows you to
cheat on the test, it will not be elaborated on here. If you
wish to know how to use this mode, cantact the author at:

Information Source:

The information contained in this program is used by
permission from the National Career Aptitudes Database.
(The book mentioned in the help files is also based on
this database).
