Released: 12. February 1998

This is version 1.05 of Visual Encryption!

This program (VE) can transform a choosen GIF image of a web page
into a partially encrypted GIF image. It modifies the web page by inserting
Java-HTML-Tag code to load the small decryption applet that loads the GIF.
Visual Encryption provides for encryption / decryption of data in
gif format (also offline), the main purpose of the program is
to use the http- and Java capabilities of WWW browsers for online decryption.
Texts and messages can be hidden and compressed into encrypted areas
of the gif image (see the HTML demo).
VE is very proper to secure parts of gif-images that contain important scientific formulas.
The visual environment helps to remember the password even in nervous situations.
A funny application is to create a public online adventure where texts and
passwords are hidden in pictures of web pages ... .

Important:

VE runs under Win95 and WinNT.

  For installation please start setupVE105.exe.

If not installed, please install a web browser (Netscape, Microsoft, Sun, IBM ...)

This program uses no methods that may be subject to any legal restrictions in Europe or USA.

It uses a cellular automata algorithm, the password is the rule to encrypt
and the only way to decrypt.

This version is freeware and slightly limited displaying "unregistered".

Status: freely distributable without limitations on distribution.
