Installation of Storesoft involves these steps:

1) Copy the 2 Storesoft files (ss and ss.cfg) to your web server
cgi-bin or scripts directory. Make sure they are executable by your
web server.

2) You must then specify the location of Perl on your web server with
the top lines of the "ss" and "ss.cfg" files.

3) Edit ss.cfg to reflect all your virtual store needs and settings
(e.g. your web server name, sales tax rate, etc.)

4) Included with Storesoft is an example products database ("products.txt").
This file will hold your product data. The location of this file must
be the same as the $products_database variable specified in the "ss.cfg"
file and system permissions to the file must be sufficient for writing.

5) Visit the administration page of your new virtual store. Use it to
add, modify, and delete products for sale. Access it by editing the
location in your web browser's page location. For example if your
virtual store location is:
     http://www.mystore.com/cgi-bin/ss?ac=st&ai=

Then remove everything after the question mark in your web browser to
access the administrator page:
     http://www.mystore.com/cgi-bin/ss?

6) We always appreciate correspondence. If you have a suggestion for
an enhancement or a problem with a possible bug, please forward comments
or reports to: info@storesoft.com

Please include:
a) the location of your store on the Internet
b) the nature of your idea for or problem with the software
c) an attachment to your email of your own ss.cfg file if you're reporting
   a bug or problem
