                           AutoDUN v1.5
                       ********************
Note: This program is designed for Windows 95 only.

AutoDUN is a program that automates Windows 95 Dial-Up Networking.
AutoDUN can control up to four of your dial-up connections. AutoDUN
operates in two modes, when started normally, and when started by
the AutoDUN Connection Monitor. The Connection Monitor allows AutoDUN
to operate when the Windows 95 Autodial feature is enabled.

When AutoDUN is started normally, it will open any user predefined
programs before starting a Dial-Up Networking connection. After a
successful connection has been made, it will open your web browsers
and any other user predefined programs that you have set.

When AutoDUN is started by the Connection Monitor, it will open any
user predefined programs and then wait for a successful Dial-Up
Networking connection. After a successful connection has been made,
it will open your web browsers (if not already open) and any other
user predefined programs that you have set.

When you have finished online, clicking 'Auto Disconnect' will
disconnect your Dial-Up Networking connection and close your web
browsers automatically. AutoDUN can also be configured to send
keystroke commands to user predefined program windows and has a
powerful program closing function, this leaves your system
'uncluttered' when you come offline.

AutoDUN can be used with or without dial-up scripters. It is designed
to open and close the RoboDUN scripter if this is installed. It is
also compatible with the Microsoft Scripting Tool. It can be
configured to open up to 6 user definable programs automatically.
AutoDUN has also been designed to operate with MSN, it will open and
close the MSN Program Viewer if this is installed. AutoDUN can keep
a log of all your dial-up connections. The logs keep a running total
of the time connected to each dial-up connection, as well as a log of
the total connection time.

AutoDUN can also automatically open and close an inexpensive phone
line timer program called 'FoneCost', available from
http://www.demon.co.uk/apcsoft/. All tests have been done on
registered versions 1.6 and 1.7. AutoDUN will close unregistered
versions, but will not open them completely automatically due to
a registration reminder box that requires the user to click on 'OK'.

Requirements:
************
Windows 95 Dial-Up Networking must be installed on your computer.

Installation:
************
Just unzip the archive in a spare folder and run setup.exe. Follow
on-screen instructions. This program's installation will be added
to Windows 95 Add/Remove Programs, in case you should wish to uninstall
it at a later date. A full Windows help file is provided in this
installation package.

Note: If your Windows System file Oleaut32.dll is older than the
one supplied with this program (dated 15/1/97 481KB), setup will
advise you that it needs to update your system files. This will involve
setup restarting your computer. This new file is supplied as a
standard part of Visual Basic 5 Professional Edition, which was used
to create AutoDUN.

                       AutoDUN Version History
                       ***********************

Additions and Issues Addressed in v1.5
**************************************

1. AutoDUN Connection Monitor added to allow AutoDUN to work when
Windows 95 Autodial is enabled. Autodial is where a dial-up
connection is automatically started when a browser tries to
load a URL when you are offline.

2. New command line switch format to avoid possible conflicts when
the browser startpage URL's are placed on the command line.

3. This version compiled using VB5 with service pack 3.

4. Bug in log viewer has been fixed that caused a run time error
if the Terminal font was not available.

5. Command line switches added that allow you to set the close
   options for the browsers.

Additions and Issues Addressed in v1.4
**************************************

1. AutoDUN has a powerful new program closing facility called 'Closer'.

2. Facility added for AutoDUN to keep connection activity logs, these
are kept in comma delimited format so they can be easily loaded into
a spreadsheet. They can also be viewed and printed by AutoDUN.

3. More command line switches added, including the ability to set the
   browser start pages.

4. Better support for the 'User Profiles' facility that comes with
the Internet Explorer 4 desktop update.

6. AutoDUN is now better able to cope with long dial-up connection
   names.

7. AutoDUN can now start up to 6 user defined programs automatically.

Additions and Issues Addressed in v1.3
**************************************

1. New close method for the web browsers. This eliminates AutoDUN
causing an occasional general protection fault in the Windows
   DDEML.dll file.

2. Command Line on/off control of the Internet Explorer proxy server
(as per Control Panel - Internet).

/xm0 - turn MS proxy off
/xm1 - turn MS proxy on (proxy servers must already be configured)

3. In Win95 OSR 2, AutoDUN now detects the 'Reestablish Connection'
message that appears if your connection is lost.

4. /disconnect command line switch now available.
If AutoDUN is open normally, when you send the command
   <your path>\AutoDUN.exe /disconnect from a shortcut or batch
file, etc. AutoDUN will 'Auto Disconnect' (the same as clicking
   the Auto Disconnect button).

5. If you have Netscape Communicator 4 installed, AutoDUN will
now automatically open and close the Netscape Mail Notifier
Program that runs in the desktop 'System Tray'. This feature
can be overridden - see command line switches in the Help File.

6. This version is compatible with Internet Explorer 4 (September 97
   Final Release).

7. The 'Ask' dialog box that gives you the option to stop AutoDUN
closing your browsers now has a user definable time limit.

Additions and Issues Addressed in v1.2
**************************************

1. AutoDUN is now compatible with MSN.

2. Get feature added to AutoDUN Settings to aid retrieval of
   dial-up connection names.

until 90 days have elapsed after first installation.

Additions and Issues Addressed in v1.1
**************************************

1. AutoDUN will now control the 32bit version of FoneCost.

2. Support added for Command line parameters (switches) for Browsers
and Startup Programs - see AutoDUN Settings.

3. Start Page will now work with Communicator 4.

4. AutoDUN is now compiled using normal 'P' code for improved stability
(it also makes the executable smaller by a huge percentage!).

Thank you for downloading AutoDUN.
