
             Welcome to the QuoteGrabber Portfolio Manager

The QuoteGrabber is a stock market portfolio manager written in Java
that provides quotes, news and charts from the Internet. Stocks can be
organized in several portfolios that display more than twenty data items
on each stock (last, bid, ask, volume, etc.). US, Canadian, French, UK
and German markets are covered at present and more are to come. Notable
features include: alerts based on price, variation or volume (or a
combination thereof), reordering of data columns by drag and drop, seven
different types of charts for each stock, news items can be retrieved in
full from the Internet and read in a mini-browser, also works off-line
by keeping retrieved data and charts on disk.


                              Installation
                              ~~~~~~~~~~~~

IMPORTANT: If you don't have Java installed on your computer or if your
Java version is older than version 1.1.3 or is from Microsoft, you
should first get the jre.exe file from: 

http://www.javasoft.com/products/jdk/1.1/jre/
or
http://www.aparima.com/quote/jre.exe

Once you have downloaded jre.exe, run the file by double-clicking on it
or from the command-line and follow the installation procedure. You will
only need to install this file once. You won't need to repeat this step
when re-installing or upgrading the QuoteGrabber.


1) Run the QGsetup.exe file included by double-clicking on it from the
Windows Explorer. 

2) Follow the installation procedure.

3) You should now have a QuoteGrabber icon on your desktop. To run the
program double-click on the icon.

                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This program is shareware in beta state. No registration fee is required
until the stable release version comes out. However feedback and bug
reports to the author are encouraged.
