WaveLogo ScreenSaver - This is not another one of those horrible Visual Basic programs!
WaveLogo runs on Windows, Windows 95 and Windows NT

Welcome to the WaveLogo ScreenSaver. WaveLogo displays 256 color bitmaps or
True Color bitmaps(True Color refers to bitmaps capable of supporting 16 million
colors) across the window in a free flowing wave pattern. You can set the size and
speed of the wave. This is no slow visual basic program that is fuzzy looking
with screen flicker. WaveLogo is pure C++.
What are the benefits of a screen saver. Well there are two main ones. To prevent
your monitor from phosphor burn that comes about from having the image on your window
for a long period of time. The other is for protection as no one else will be able
to stop the screen saver and access your computer without the password. If you don't
have any vital data on your computer you can disable the password protection altogether.
  Now back to WaveLogo.
WaveLogo can display up to three bitmaps on the screen at the
same time with no flicker. We decided those visual basic programs with one bitmap
just weren't cutting it. The crisp clear bitmap(s) are displayed perfectly with no
color loss. You can change the settings to experiment with WaveLogo. We
have also included a beautiful color fading option that displays colors
of the rainbow in a gradient fashion. We always enjoyed looking at rainbows so
we have added this feature for those of you like us. Color shading works best
  in True Color mode.
**Important. Make sure your 256 color bitmaps use the same palette for every
bitmap. If you use a different palette for each bitmap you risk the bitmaps not
displaying properly or at all. This is not a concern for True Color bitmaps.
We designed WaveLogo for crispness, speed, and extensibility. Crispness so
your pictures are displayed perfectly. Speed so you can set your own personal favorite
movement speed, we just couldn't stand the visual basic programs not having this speed
setting, and extensibility so we can add features to WaveLogo that our customers want.
Note you can change the text in WaveLogo's setting dialog box window. It's default
  text from us reading:

You also get these three lines to place any text you want.
You can put your phone number, address etc...
  123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678

The third line here just shows you the maximum letters you can put on each line(78 letters).
You can change these lines to anything you or your company wants by editing the files
one.txt, two.txt, and three.txt that are kept in the same directory as your bitmaps.
You select this directory in the settings dialog box for WaveLogo.

** WaveLogo is not handicapped in any way. We did this to provide you with the
complete program so you see the whole program. The only shareware item is the
text that appears after so much time stating the program is unregistered.
When you register we will send you a serial number to enter into the file
register.txt. This serial number will disable all the non-registered items.
If you have problems contact us for help.

How does WaveLogo work? WaveLogo displays your bitmap continuously across the
window at a rate of 40+ frames per second. We've added a twist to this though. We let
the fancy user use the bitmap to create a nice patterned trail as the bitmap moves.
How do we do this? We just move the bitmap a pixel at a time so the back part of your
bitmap is not erased. A whole row of pixels that are constantly left in this
fashion can produce a nice wavy pattern as the bitmap moves across the window.
If you don't want any trail left just make sure you have the border of your bitmap
in black(remember, add a border, don't blacken any of the real bitmap data!).
It's easy to add a border to your bitmap with any decent paint program, we recommend
  Paintshop Pro.

Don't just blacken your bitmaps border and wipe out a portion of your bitmap as
stated above! If your paint program doesn't have an option to add a border to your
bitmap contact us or email your bitmap to us and we'll gladly do it for you.

Why does adding a black border around your bitmap prevent a trail from being made?
Because the window starts out black and the border of your bitmap, if it's black,
is actually drawn to the window like any other color, but since it's black you don't
see it against the black window. Experimenting with different colors around
the border of your bitmap will let you find a nice pattern. View the bitmaps
we've included to see how we did it.
**Just remember we never would require you to write over any real portion of your bitmap
thus ruining it's image. If your blackening pixels that are part of the image your doing
it wrong. Contact us with *any* questions. The bitmap is the most vital part of this
screen saver so we treat bitmaps with the utmost care.
**Actually with the math involved the bitmap will be moved more than one pixel now
and then before it's redrawn. The bitmap should have at least a 3 pixel border
of black pixels around it. If this isn't enough make the border larger.
**Look at the bitmaps we've provided for examples.

For those customers who want something a bit different or just a few changes we do
custom programs. We offer for $20 extra to customize this screen saver with your
company's name where ever WaveLogo appears. If you want a different layout for the
setup screen or want some parts stripped out for a smaller screen saver, contact
us for pricing. Pricing normally will be $20 an hour.
We will offer upgrades of WaveLogo. Customers feedback and needs will be
what is incorporated in the upgrade so write us with what you'd like or need.

				Files in WaveLogo

Here are the files for WaveLogo and what they do. If you don't have one of these
files contact us and tell us where you downloaded WaveLogo from.

wavelogo.scr - This is the screen saver program. When you run setup this will be
copied to your operating systems directory where all other screen
                savers are stored.

readme.txt - Contains vital information. We recommend you read this now if you haven't.

 wavelogo.txt - This file.

register.txt - used to strip out the shareware information.

One.bmp - This is bitmap 1. WaveLogo has to be able to find this file when it starts!.
This file must be in the directory you selected in the settings dialog
called "Select Directory". These files were installed to the directory
you specified when you ran setup. If you haven't used the "Select Directory"
button yet to setup your main directory you must do this now.

Two.bmp - This is bitmap 2. WaveLogo has to be able to find this file when it starts!.
This file must be in the directory you selected in the settings dialog
called "Select Directory". These files were installed to the directory
you specified when you ran setup. If you haven't used the "Select Directory"
button yet to setup your main directory you must do this now.

Three.bmp - This is bitmap 3. WaveLogo has to be able to find this file when it starts!.
This file must be in the directory you selected in the settings dialog
called "Select Directory". These files were installed to the directory
you specified when you ran setup. If you haven't used the "Select Directory"
button yet to setup your main directory you must do this now.

One.txt - This is line 1 of the text that will be displayed in the settings dialog
for WaveLogo. You can freely edit this to say whatever you want, just
edit it with any text editor.

Two.txt - This is line 2 of the text that will be displayed in the settings dialog
for WaveLogo. You can freely edit this to say whatever you want, just
edit it with any text editor.

Three.txt - This is line 3 of the text that will be displayed in the settings dialog
for WaveLogo. You can freely edit this to say whatever you want, just
edit it with any text editor.

Try1.bmp - an extra bitmap we did that you may optionally try. Just copy this file
             to one.bmp, two.bmp or three.bmp. Note this is a 256 color bitmap.
Try using an amplitude of 30 and period of 100. This shows how you
can get the bitmap to leave a wave trace pattern as it moves.
Make sure Wave Pattern On is checked.

Try2.bmp - an extra bitmap we did that you may optionally try. Just copy this file
             to one.bmp, two.bmp or three.bmp. Note this is a 256 color bitmap.
Try using an amplitude of 30 and period of 100. This shows another
wave trace pattern but in the vertical. Make sure Wave Pattern On is checked.

Try3.bmp - an extra bitmap we did that you may optionally try. Just copy this file
             to one.bmp, two.bmp or three.bmp. Note this is a 256 color bitmap.
Another example just to show you the possibilities. These bitmaps
show just the minimum of what is possible. With some creative thought
a marvelous pattern can be left. The possibilities are endless.

Atrueclr.bmp - an extra bitmap we did that you may optionally try. It is the True
                 Color version of one.bmp(The Yankees).

Atrueclr.bmp - an extra bitmap we did that you may optionally try. It is the True
                 Color version of two.bmp.

Atrueclr.bmp - an extra bitmap we did that you may optionally try. It is the True
                 Color version of three.bmp(The Yankees).

** All the extra bitmaps were installed in the directory called Extrabmap.

                                   Info on WaveLogo Settings

Color Shading - Displays an array of random colors

Normal Mode - Displays 256 lines of color, if this
option is not selected it's 512 lines of color

Wave Pattern On - Moves the bitmap in a wave pattern according
to the period and amplitude settings.

Show all 3 bitmaps - Displays all 3 bitmaps one after the
                          other in a wave pattern.

Turbo - Sets the speed of the bitmap. 50 is the fastest speed.

Bitmap 1 - Selects bitmap one.bmp to display.

Bitmap 2 - Selects bitmap two.bmp to display.

Bitmap 3 - Selects bitmap three.bmp to display.

Random Bitmaps - Cycles through the bitmaps and randomly
displays them. This option works for both
                          wave and non-wave patterns.

Password Protected - Turns on password protection. Make sure
	                      you remember your password!

Set Password - Let's you change your password.

Select Directory - Selects the directory where you store the
bitmaps and other text files. This must be
                           setup properly.

Wave Rises on Start - starts the bitmap in an upward wave. If
this is not selected it is started in
                           a downward wave.

Clear Window after every Wave - Blackens the entire screen after each wave.

Continuous Wave - Makes the bitmap go off the right edge of the
window. If this option isn't selected the
bitmap stops at the right edge of the window.

Amplitude - How high the bitmap goes. 100 is a normal
	 	     trigonomic wave.

Period - Increases the cycles of the waves thus making the
wave pattern shorter. This has no effect on the
amplitude, just the frequency of the waves. 100
	          is a normal trigonomic period.

Normal Wave - Does a normal trigonomic wave.

Half Wave - Will do a part of a wave then straighten out and
then do another part of the wave and keep doing
	             this.

  Screen saver doesn't work?

Did you select the correct directory using Select Directory.
The path shown must be where your bitmap files are located.
Also check that your bitmaps are named one.bmp, two.bmp and three.bmp exist.
You need all 3 of these bitmaps and they must be in the same format, 256 color
or True Color. No other bitmaps are recognized except one.bmp, two.bmp,
        and three.bmp.

I can't change or display my text at the top of the screen saver?

You must edit the files one.txt two.txt and three.txt and
have them in the selected directory you setup by using the
Select Directory button. This is the same directory the
bitmaps are to be in. See question above this for more help.

  Why aren't my pictures shown?

Did you rename them one.bmp two.bmp and three.bmp. They must be named this.
WaveLogo will ignore any other bitmaps in the directory?

Did you use the same palette for all bitmaps?

Did you select the right directory in the settings dialog?

I can't get the half wave option to work?

You must set the wave option on and make sure the period value is above 100, try
setting the period value to 200.

  How much does WaveLogo cost?

$20 dollars for a single user. With this you also get technical support.
$250 for a site license. With this you also get technical support.

What are the other benefits of registering?
You receive 50% on all future updates. The ability to request added
features to the next update. I will try to accommodate all possible requests.

Can True Color display 256 color bitmaps?
    Yes.

Can 256 color displays show True Color bitmaps?
    No.

Can we mix True Color bitmaps and 256 color bitmaps in WaveLogo?
No. You will have to use 3 True Color bitmaps or 3 256 color bitmaps. You can't
do something like 2 True Color bitmaps and 1 256 color bitmap.

Why does 256 colors look smoother than True Color?
Simply put, True Color images take much longer to draw. Every pixel must be
decoded and then drawn. In 256 colors we have the benefit of just going straight
to a color register and drawing that color. Thus you will get many more
frames per second with 256 color bitmaps.
