Additional required files to run the program:
Instructions for installing the Borland Database Engine
Redistributable (BDE).

This database engine is required in order to use Attend for Windows.
Please read this file in it's entirety before installing the BDE and
before installing or running Attend for Windows. In short, you will
need to install the BDE, adjust for four-digit years in the BDE, and
adjust your Windows setup for four-digit years.

If you have also downloaded the program Attend for Windows, then to
install, unzip both archive files (ENGINE.ZIP and AFWxxS.ZIP) into the
same directory, and run the program INSTALL.EXE. The installer program
INSTALL.EXE is included with the Attend for Windows archive file, not
this BDE archive. To install the BDE alone, you can run the enclosed
file named SETUP.EXE. The aforementioned installation file (INSTALL.EXE)
will also try to run SETUP.EXE during installation, regardless of
whether or not the BDE is already installed to your system.

Legal stuff:
------------
The Borland Database Engine Redistributable (BDE) files are
a product of Borland International, Inc. Per Borland documentation,
"NOTE: Delphi includes a redistributable license to deploy royalty-free
applications as well as Borland Database Engine (BDE) and ReportSmith
Runtime files." The files contained in this archive represent the BDE in
it's redistributable form.

So, with all this in mind...
----------------------------
Thanks for downloading Attend and these necessary files and giving it a
try! I have prepared this file to inform you of what is needed to run
Attend for Windows. This set of files is a part of what is necessary to
run Attend for Windows. It's a 'database engine', which in English is
just a set of utilities that allow Attend to operate with the type of
database files that it uses.

How to Install
--------------
Installing the BDE is simply a matter of running the enclosed file named
"SETUP.EXE" from within Windows. You can do this by double-clicking on
this file name in File Manager, or choosing 'File - Run' from the Program
Manager menu, 'Browsing' for the file, double-clicking it, then pressing
OK in the Run window. Follow the onscreen prompts to install the BDE.

You will also need to run the program BDECFG.EXE in the C:\IDAPI directory
once the BDE is installed, so that you can set up the engine to use four-
digit years.

Four-Digit Years
----------------
Attend for Windows uses four-digit years for dates. Since we are fast
approaching the turn of the century, it is best to enter all dates with
four digit years. Some functions in Attend depend on correct date entries
to function properly. The BDECFG utility by default uses two-digit years.

To change to four-digit years, start BDECFG.EXE, and on the page marked
'DRIVERS' click on the driver named PARADOX. Then, click on the page
marked 'Date'. On this page are several parameters, the third of which
is called FOURDIGITYEAR. Click on this parameter and change the display
from FALSE to TRUE. Then click on 'FILE - SAVE' to save the configuration.

Adjusting Windows for Four-Digit Years
--------------------------------------
Additionally, your Windows setup should also be changed to display four
digit years. For Windows 3.1 users, this setting is changed in the Control
Panel 'International' setup. Activate Control Panel and double click the
International icon. Under the Date Format section, press the Change
button. In the Short Date format section, click on the check box next
to the item marked 'Century' (the box should be checked to activate four
digit years). Also, in the Long Date format section, click on the right
most button in this section, which displays the year. Select the four
digit year. Finally, click on OK - OK, then close Control Panel to save
these changes.

If you have any difficulty with this process, please do not hesitate to
write me an email. Please be so kind as to describe the difficulty in
detail, including all steps taken to install the program. The more you
can provide, the easier it will be to fix.
