4. Installation

You use the "install" program to install the NIVIA screen saver. To start
the installation program you must be in Microsoft Windows. If you are in
DOS and you have Microsoft Windows installed, type 'win' to enter Windows.
For example
	C:\> win
If you do not have Microsoft Windows installed refer to your Microsoft
Windows Installation Guide for Windows installation procedures.

If you receive NIVIA in a zipped format (e.g. NIVIA200.ZIP), place
the file in an empty subdirectory and use the PKUNZIP program to extract
the NIVIA files. For example type:
PKUNZIP NIVIA200

To start the installation program, from the "File" menu item of the
"Program Manager" (or from the Start button in Windows 95) choose "Run...".
When the "Run" dialog Box appears on the screen, in the "Command Line:" box
type the following.
{drive}:\INSTALL
You must replace "{drive}" with the drive or path where the NIVIA files
are located.(for example A). You may omit the drive if you are already
in the correct drive and directory.

Choose the "OK" button to start the installation program. The
"NIVIA Installation Box" will appear after a moment. You will use this
dialog box to install the NIVIA software modules. You may click the
"Close" button anytime before the the start of installation to close the
installation box. You cannot use this button to interrupt during the
file transfers.

Once in the "NIVIA Installation Box" you must choose the location from
which NIVIA will be installed. Select from the "A Drive", "B Drive", or
"Current Directory".
The "Start Control Panel - Desktop" checkbox comes up as activated. This
option, when enabled, starts the Desktop application in Control Panel
(or the Properties for Display dialog box if you use Windows 95)
immediately after the file installations are completed. You can then
set NIVIA as your active screen saver. This is described in more
detail in the next section.
If you do not want the Control panel application started right away, simply
deactivate the checkbox.
Choose "OK" to start the installation procedure or choose "Close" to abort
the installation. If you choose "OK", NIVIA will start transferring files
to their appropriate locations. NIVIA will alert you when the installation
is completed with a message box indicating the completion. Choose "OK" on
the message box to acknowledge the message. At this time the installation
is complete. If you elected for Control Panel to be started, you must
first exit from Control Panel (or Properties for Display in Windows 95)
and then choose "Close" on the "NIVIA Installation Box" to close it.

5. Setup and Activation

The NIVIA screen saver is similar to the screen savers supplied with
Windows. There are no additional program groups or items required to
activate NIVIA. You use the same familiar Windows screen saver module
to setup and activate the NIVIA screen saver. Follow these steps to
activate the NIVIA screen saver. If the "Start Control Panel" checkbox
was enabled in the installation dialog box, you should already be in the
Control Panel Desktop window (or Properties for Display in Windows 95).
If the checkbox was not enabled, or for some reason Control Panel was not
started, Open the "Control Panel" program item. The "Control Panel" program
item is usually found in the "Main" Program group. For Windows 95,
right click on the desktop and choose Properties.

In the "Control Panel" window open the "Desktop" program item, unless it is
already opened for you. In the "Desktop" window locate the "Screen Saver"
box (or choose the Screen Saver tab for Windows 95). Type "NIVIA" in the
"Name" box or use the drop-down list to choose "NIVIA". Enter the number
of minutes for NIVIA to activate after, in the "Delay" box.

You use "Setup..." to customize NIVIA. To enter the NIVIA Setup screen
choose the "Setup..." button in the "Screen Saver" box. A dialog box
containing the customization items appears on your screen.
At this point you can click on "Help" or press F1 to receive help on any
option.

6. Activating NIVIA

Once you have installed NIVIA, it is ready for activation. Just select
"OK" and your configurations will be saved in Windows.
NIVIA will start after a period of inactivity which you selected
in the "Delay" box of the screen saver group.
You can also test the NIVIA screen saver by selecting "Test". This will
allow you to preview the screen saver before selecting it for Windows. Just
move your mouse or press a key on your keyboard to terminate NIVIA and
return to Windows.
