How to set up lyrics for your favorite CD

First of all you will need to create a text file
containing the lyrics of all the tracks you want included. You don't
need to have all the tracks to start with since you can merge lyric
files together manually at a later date.

The text should be typed in as per the example below:

        ARTIST Bruce Springsteen
        TITLE Human Touch

        (Track 1 - Human Touch)
You and me we were the pretenders
We let it all slip away
In the end what you don't surrender
Well the world just strips away

Girl ain't no kindness in the face of strangers
Ain't gonna find no miracles here
Well you can wait on your blessings my darlin'
But I got a deal for you right here

I ain't lookin' for prayers of pity
I ain't comin' 'round searching for a cruth
I just want someone to talk to
And a little of that human touch
Just a little of that human touch

The ARTIST and TITLE fields are used to set the caption when the file
is loaded. The track titles are optional. Including blank lines
helps when there is a lot of "ho hum, la la la" stuff at the end of
a line.

Once you have a text file complete (in this case BSTOUCH.TXT) run the
authoring app - TIMEACD.EXE. When the app starts it will start a
copy of the PLAYACD.EXE app to allow you to control the CD player.

From the File menu, select Open and read in the text file you
created. Note that the default file extension is LYR and you will
have to select the TXT option to see the list of text files.

As the file is read in, each line is initialized with a time value of
0,00:00.00 which means track 0, zero minutes, seconds and frames.

Use the control application (PLAYACD.EXE) to start the CD playing
just before where your lyrics start. Click on the authoring app to
activate it and give the listbox focus.

Now what you do is listen to the CD and select the line in the list
box just before the words are sung on the CD. As you do this the
current CD time is entered against that line of text. You can either
use the mouse or, more conveniently, the down arrow key to change the
selection.

When you have made a complete pass through the track (or entire CD if
you are keen) select the Save option from the File menu. This will
save the file out with the same name but a LYR extension.

The LYR files are text files with a leading time code for each lyric
line. You can read these back into the authoring tool to update them
and you can of course load them into the sing-along app
(SINGACD.EXE).
