Thank you.] These Bengali fonts (I named them as Sonar Gaon) works with Microsoft WINDOWS and its applications. In order to use the Sonar Gaon (and other) Bengali fonts, you must have the WINDOWS installed. 1. Install windows (version 2 or higher or windows/286 or windows 3.x) in a directory called windows. (Windows setup program automatocally proposes this name during installation). Select HP Series II laser printer during the installation. 2. Create a directory called "arfonts" by using the following DOS command at the DOS prompt: c>md arfonts ΔΩ (ΔΩ = enter) 3. Make the arfonts as the default directory: c>cd\arfonts ΔΩ 4. Copy all files from the font disk labeled arfonts to the directory arfonts: copy a:*.* ΔΩ These files include printer font files (*.sc*) and other utilities. 5. Start installation of the Bengali fonts by using the command: bipw3 ΔΩ At the menu screen, change the defaults as necessary. The program will create matching screen fonts corresponding to each printer font being installed depending on the choices made at the menu screen, for example, wheather the graphics adapter is a CGA or VGA etc. 6. Note that the installation program assumes that the fonts are being installed for a HP series II or III laser printer. If you want to chose HP LaserJet +, you can do that by hitting 'P' while in the installation menu. However, these fonts were created for and tested on a HP series II and compatible printers. Equal result should be obtainable with any laser printer that is HP series II compatible and configured as HP II. 7. Once installation is complete, start windows' wordprocessing program "write" by using the command: win write ΔΩ 8. While in 'write', Bengali font(s) of different point size can be chosen from the 'character', 'Font' menu: In write use: alt+C+F (or appropriate menu selection by mouse) to choose desired font. For more information about using WRITE consult windows manual. * Note that the Bengali Charter has 3 point sizes: 10, 18 and 26. These point sizes should actually be 12, 18 and 28 points. ** Once the fonts are installed for windows, any windows application can use them. For example, PageMaker, Microsoft Word for Windows, Microsoft Excel, etc. ---------------------------------------------------------- In case of any problem please do not hesitate to contact me at the above address.
